And here there are people who thinks Mexicans are taking our jobs away. Why do people defend the hands that ship their jobs away?

Of course we are outsourcing engineering jobs to India... we don't make enough of them. What's new?

If there is no stop to this nonsense, there won't be any jobs here.
What do we make here anyway?

Not much...

Can they outsource NASA?

I bet someone out there wants to try.....

There are reasons. India respects education as a way forward for people and the country. As a nation, they have established universities for the top students which provide free education (tuition, books, room, board) for those who make it in. The universities work closely with industry to place all graduates after school.

In the US, we denigrate education. We elect presidents who relish their mediocre academic abilities. It is available to the rich, but stupid and lazy, with just enough poor and motivated students allowed in to keep the universities standing intact. Higher education in the US mostly transforms students into indentured servants of student loan companies. If they find jobs, their first task is to start paying off student loans.

So, India chose to invest in education of its' people and is rewarded with economic success. America is hoping to keep the hands on local jobs that Indians (or Chinese) don't want.

If a job can be can be done overseas for cheaper (and in some cases, better too) of course a company is going to choose to outsource. Profit is number one, we the workers are expendable. We are fooling ourselves if we think we'll be able to maintain living wages and remain competitive with countries like India. With a much lower cost of living and a talented work force India has a clear advantage. India and China's main challenge will be to leave us just prosperous enough so that we can continue to consume their products and services

I get into these pessimistic moods sometimes. Sorry.

No need to apologize for your honesty. The US appears to be on the fast track to becoming a third world country.
We must stop our consumption of Chinese/Indian products. If our leaders won't get us out of the WTO, then we can reduce its power by how we spend our money as consumers.

The Capitalists are still abandoning America at a frantic pace...

Maybe we need to use the best of both systems, to save what's left..

The Globalists are the capitalists my friend and as for both systems there is this thing called socialism in which the government serve the people and provides those essential underpinnings for us, we the people, to then create and be productive and prosperous...!

Nationalize Health Care
The major banks and credit card companies and AIG..
All major energy
The Airlines
And the auto industry if need be as well as Steel..if need be...

A good percentage of the blame for off-shoring of call center jobs is the cheap cost of telecommunications. During the dot-com boom very large capacity was built up and when dot-com went bust companies had to find some way to fill those empty communications pipes. Since much of the new system was fiber-optic the cost of maintenance could be re-evaluated and the price the customer payed reduced. Many telecommunications companies were using the cost of maintaining copper in their original service pricing. Once you changed that to fiber the ability to cut prices and still maintain margins was possible.
