These are the kinds of questions people answered about 153 American companies for the Reputation Institute, a private research and consulting firm. The Reputation Institute ranked these companies on how esteemed, admired, trusted and liked each was, based on its surveys of the general public.

Sorry. Don't believe a word of it. So many reputable firms vouchsafed by many reputable folks turned out to be junk. I don't trust any American corporation.
"Reputable" companies? Do those exist anymore?
Besides, everyone knows magazines like Forbes and Fortune are in cahoots with big corporations. What's their incentive to tell the truth about these mega-money giants? Now run a similar story in Old Middle-Class Grandma's Monthly and I might take notice.

Honestly, I'm surprised how far down the list Wal-Mart sits, #84. With the number of people who shop there, I expected it to easily clear the top 20. It's nowhere near any of its competitors.
