Hillary Clinton

Newsweek:

Thanks to the global financial crisis, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has enjoyed something of a grace period over these first 100 days of the Obama administration. Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner has garnered most of the attention--and nearly all the criticism. That's about to end. Now that the fog of economic catastrophe seems to be lifting--if barely--the outlines of a fairly grim foreign-policy landscape are becoming visible. And it is very likely that Clinton and her boss will be more occupied with the challenges abroad in the next 100 days than with the recession and crisis at home.

Yeah, right. The economic crisis isn't over, they just want us to think it is. Obama probably told Buffett to go out there and say it's over. It's psychological. The admin. knows that every thing hinges on the economy.

On the globe today, it is women who are second class citizens and are enslaved. It will be good having a woman in a diplomatic position of power dealing with regressive groups.

What happened to Rodham-Clinton?

Finally, an adult in charge!! At least I know our foreign policy will be sound and successful under Hillary's charge... health care, the economy, etc. left much to be desired.

As usual, the patterns will persist. HIllary will tour the world, providing broad-based sentiments about policy initiatives, the actual specifics of which she knows absolutely nothing about. The actual brains under her wing will continue to do the actual "thinking" and "doing" for her, while she proceeds to receive all the credit, making herself seem to impressionable masses as 100 times smarter than she actually is, and giving the irate ranks of HIllary supporters illegitimate cause to gloat "I told you so!"

The only person who doesnt know anything about diplomacy is "you"! Nice guess work, keep it up. If Obama picked her, and all the rest of the cabinet members, then HE will get the glory if they do well. DUUUHHH.

To all the haters on this site, SOS Clinton has poven herself as Obama's SOS. She has not had any drama around her while others in the administration has been critized all over the media. Clinton has been no drama and all you people have is something she did last year to hold on too. First of all none of you know her so basically you are talking from what you heard which just shows the ignorance of most of the population for believing what they heard.

Just heard on Morning Joe that it looks like Gen Patreous will be the GOP candidate in 2012. Interesting.

Hillary's what you want here-tough minded, an excellent study, can be disciplined, will give this her all, doesn't give a crap what others think, commands their respect. You are NOT going to get much different outta Holbrooke or whomever else, so stop pretending she's the anti christ or reliving the primary season of last year.

I like her in this role, I think this was a great move by Obama.

Here Comes Hillary? All this article proves is that Hillary as a good PR team. Always has had. The problem of course is that Hillary herself never lives up to the SPIN. She is a divisive, dishonest, partisan politician, ill-suited to the role of being Chief diplomat.

Replace 'Hillary' w/ 'Obama' and you come out sounding like Matthews and/or Glenn Beck. Nice job hater.

Hillary was the perfect choice for Secretary of State. Obama gets it. I'm looking forward to hearing her address. I'm also very happy with Holbrooke's and Clinton's approach to dealing with Pakistan and helping them focus on their major issue - the Taliban instead of India. Tells me they must be doing a good job working with India as well.

Your comments seem amazingly naive. and subject ot Hillary's super spin machine.

Yours seem to come from the neocon spin machine. Get over yourself, hater.

I am looking forward to seeing her deliver her first major speech. She is going to be a great SoS. She, and Obama, will show all the "pundits" and "analysts" who were criticizing him for picking her - Bill will be influencing her over him, on and on and on - as if Hillary and Barack were so weak willed that Bill could manipulate them.

I was against Hillary being SOS because of her war vote and comments made during the primaries, HOWEVER, now I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Did you mean to say her rhetoric on all sides of every issue? Hillary is certainly expert at being a pandering politician, but not an effective one. In these challenging times, we need a real diplomat at work for the nation, and Hillary is many things, but not that.
