Daley: Biden Wrong On Swine Flu And Public Transit

Mayor Daley said Thursday that he disagrees with Vice President Joe Biden's suggestion to his family that they avoid subways to help prevent catching swine flu, the Tribune reports.

Asked about Biden's comments today, Daley replied, "Well, no. We all have to get to work. I mean, we'd be staying out of our cars. We'd be staying out of subways, out of elevators - how about elevators? No, no, no. You have to remember - we have to ... use some common sense."

Biden's advice raised eyebrows as it went beyond government-recommended precautions. A White House spokesperson attempted to clarify the remarks, saying that Biden meant only that sick people should avoid confined public spaces like subways.

I believe the administration and the media over reacted to Biden's comments. It was perfectly realistic to suggest that staying out of confined areas and limiting exposure to crowds of people. If anything the media has blown it out of shape by having it a lead in on most every news program. Because of what the media and the administration has done with the story of Swine Flu few people will want to expose themselves any more than necessary. If it isn't a serious problem don't talk about it 24 hrs a day

JOE GAVE GOOD ADVICE. Are the Daley's still so corrupt ?

Daley is right. The cases in Canada are described as mild, and here on the Chicago page there is a student who had it and says that it is not a big deal. We just have to use precautions, and if struck, we Americans have the quality of life in which treatment is a lot easier to effect than in the third world. Biden is almost crying fire in a crowded theater.

Daley is rich with limo drivers so of course he wants people to risk their lives on public transportation...how will Chicago make money?
