Swine Flu A Mexican Immigrant Conspiracy: Conservative Media (VIDEO)

As near as anyone knows, the recent outbreaks of swine flu in the United States have been the result of Americans, returning to America, from Mexico, to where they live, in America. This makes a certain sense -- the larger outbreak is in Mexico, American tourists often travel to Mexico, most prefer to return home at some point. On the other hand, however, the swine flu might actually be THE NEXT WAVE OF THE RECONQUISTA, SOUND THE ALARMS!

Media Matters, has produced an entertaining little mashup, chronicling the swine flu angle from that point of view, where illegal immigrants are not just the "perfect mules" for influenza -- they are the "perfect mules" for terrorism! "What better way to sneak a virus in this country than to give it to Mexicans?" asks Neil Boortz, apparently unaware that the answer to his question is "Virtually all the other ways you can think of."

Anyway, this is compelling stuff, so long as you haven't even a passing understanding of how epidemiology and disease vectors work.

Swine Flu is a White Racist conspiracy to require all illegal aliens to pass health screenings before taking jobs in the health care industry or as food service workers. All illegal aliens have the God given right, provided by Catholic Charities of course, to take up jobs as every local hosptial cafeteria and work!

The most fun this week was watching Lou Dobbs (not my usual activity!) report for nearly an *hour* about this preternaturally "Mexican" contagion. I mean, this couldn't have been custom-written for Lou any better than it's played out: to Lou (and evidently to his Mexican wife, as well) the adjacent nation is itself a contagion, whether "infecting" us with micro- or with macro organisms...

Seems like MediaMatters would have had enough ammo for their argument without having to resort to quoting Shep Smith out of context. I think if I were a journalist, I wouldn't trust them as a truthful source anymore. A lesson for both sides of the aisle - don't trust compilations like this. It is reminiscent of Rovian manipulation at its worst.

I see what you're saying, kind of, with the Shep Smith quote, but only because he was cut off. Smith was saying people were emailing and saying it's the illegals' fault. He wasn't saying it himself. And it was pretty obvious to me when he was speaking that he was in disagreement with the emails. You can hear it in his voice. Maybe you should watch the clip again.

here in the inland empire, california there was a NASTY 10 day flu going around that included excruciating headaches, etc etc etc
at any given time there are hundreds, if not thousands, of flu cases in every metropolitan area.
