AP nothing but conservative drivel irrelevant in today's media unless they become the unbiased feed they are supposed to be.

The AP? Is this the same AP that helped cheerlead us into a disastrous war? Why, yes, I believe it is. The hell with them.

Nice. The AP going the way of the dinosaurs and the Repubs.

Reuters and AFP are much better.

If APs stories are not discovered by the most pervasive search engine, how will anyone know they've published anything? Are they serious about trying to get Google to pay THEM? Bet this gut has a 7 figure income. Maybe global warming has depleted all the oxygen in their part of the stratosphere.

I wonder if it occurred to them that Google might feel a strong urge to retaliate? You know, by excluding their articles from search results.

Exactly. See if they would like to be "dis-googled."

I find it humorous that the two (ap/fox) sources with the least accuracy and reality in news reporting are doing the loudest whining. They're sounding like republicans. Go away tom and take rupert with you please.

AP : If you don't do what we want, we will cut of our nose to spite our face.

Sounds awfully GOPer to me.

More of the traditional news organizations trying hard to commit suicide. If they want to hide their content, fine, but most of us will seek alternative open content.

Exactly what I thought. Does AP think that they are the only organization with news to share? Once the "news" has been put out there, how can these guys control who and how it is used? It seems like they would like it very much if google had to charge for a search. Are these guy republican? I only ask because if there were a charge for a search there would be less searches and the republicans could lie and lie and lie and there would be less of us to discover those lies.

...said the mouse to the elephant.

On the Internet the MORE widely content is distributed the greater value it has to the originator. The only remaining model is selling click-thru advertising NEXT to news. Curley is playing "hard to get" with the only girl in town. He should instead be sucking her toes.

AP should work with Google to figure out micropayments. I'd gladly pay a nickel, a dime to read an interesting story on Huffpo, PROVIDED most of that nickel or dime was finding its way to the WRITER, THE PHOTOGRAPHER.

For instance, I'd often like to download a LARGE, hi-rez version of some AP photo, Can't do it right now.

"Curley is playing "hard to get" with the only girl in town. He should instead be sucking her toes. "

Funny and spot on. They only hold as much sway as they are wanted or needed by Google's end users and we simply don't care.

In this game AP can go home but the ball belongs to Google.

First, most of the AP's stories seem to come straight from press releases these days. And second, many newspapers are failing these days because they didn't move on to new media sooner. The sooner the AP accepts that this new media is the driving force behind their industry now, the sooner they can start doing more than regurgitating press releases.
