A Gallup poll out May 1st suggests Jews and Muslims can agree on one thing: President Obama is doing a good job. In a poll of Americans affiliated with major U.S. religions on Obama's first 100 days, Jews and Muslims gave Obama the highest approval ratings at 85% and 79% respectively. Roman Catholics and Protestants were supportive but not quite as ecstatic, at 67% and 58% respectively. Obama also found broad support -- 73% approval -- from Americans with no religious affiliation, including those calling themselves atheists or agnostics.

The neolibs want a two-state solution for Isreal/Palistine. Obama's their lead campaign manager.

If the creation theory is correct, then God would have been the first known scientist. We are all a part of his/her great experiment. Now do you believe in science?

Eh, I don't think that's quite a perfect fit: scientists are trying to figure out how things work and how to use that information to make certain things work in a certain ways. The Abrahamic God, presumably, already knows at least the first part.

Hi, just wanted to point out that the approval rate statistics in this article seem to be transposed. The link to the official Gallup poll has it at an 85% approval rating for Obama amongst Muslims and 79% amongst Jews, not the other way around.

But hurrah, common ground!

Umm, wow ever hear of something called science? Nobody ever theorized the universe popped out of thin air (obviously air didn't exist yet). There are valid theories (not to be confused with hypotheses, as theories have substantial evidence for them, hypotheses are just guesses based on observations) that the universe could have existed without god or gods. I'll take the theory with evidence, and not something based on a book written by humans with absolutely no evidence to back it up.

You are confusing Atheism with Creationism.

We don't believe that the universe just "popped up out of thin air." To the contrary: read "A Brief History of the Universe," by Steven Hawking.

Creationists believe that God "created" everything... out of thin air.

Actually, atheists and agnostics generally arrive at their positions via rationale. Believers arrive at their positions via faith. In fact, they are willing to hold on to the most irrational beliefs because of their faith. They can ignore scientific evidence because they have faith. God works in mysterious ways. Lack of rationale is what is called for. The problem for believers comes when they try to reconcile science with faith. Science involves causes and effects. So the question of where did the universe come from is the same question that can be posed as where did God come from. Did he just pop out of thin air. Those who have faith don't question the origin of God.
Let's assume that they are right that there is a God. There is still a problem. With so many different faiths and views of God, is their view of God correct. Is any view of God correct? Most get their view of God from some rusty old tome. Does what is written make sense. As far as the bible goes, Genesis make no sense whatsoever. Also, it is totally contrary to scientific evidence, observation, and experimentation. I say experimentation because rather than searching for Noah's ark, an ark like experiment could be devised that would prove or disprove the possibility of Noah's experience. Don't expect the religious community to ever participate because they are simply not about proof and truth; they are about faith and mythology.

It should be noted that Genesis is also contrary to itself, giving two different stories on Creation (the first, much shorter one, had God create the world out of the water).

I think the reason why Moslem and Jews can't live in middle east is because they grew up with prejudice. Here in America, we learn that we are all just human being. We are all the same, there are always good and bad people in every side, every race, every religion.

First of all its 'Muslim' not Moslem.

Secondly, Muslims were living with Jews peacefully in the Middle East since the very inception of Islam. Jews were allowed to prosper and flourish under Islamic Caliphate rule.

Even when Jews were expelled and not allowed to worship freely in Jerusalem under the Romans and Crusaders, it was the Muslim Caliph Omar who finally brought them back in the holy city and allowed them to freely worship at their Western Wall.

The reason for the conflict mind you in two words: LAND GRAB. Ever since the creation of Israel and the forcible removal of the native Palestinian population from their homes, lands, and fields by armed Irgun Israeli militamen armed by Europe and the US, the conflict has seared in the hearts of almost all Muslims.

Muslims have beef with Zionists not Jews.

...the firing of Chas Freeman recently as the Chairman of the National Intelligence Council, doesn't look too good. Freeman was fired by the White House for opposing some of Israel's policies...so Obama might be losing support little by little as more of this nonsense occurs more frequently.

Haven't heard of any 'firings' and this doesn't sound like the kind of reason that would precipitate a firing. Are you sure the chairman didn't leave for his own reasons?

He withdrew himself from consideration, he was not fired. A former ambassador to Saudi Arabia who continued to have connections to a group funded by Saudi Arabia as well as being on the advisory board of China's biggest offshore oil explorer (Cnooc Ltd.).

All in all, perhaps a little too much controversy to make it through a confirmation process, so he dropped out. Probably the right move. But again, doesn't look like he was "fired" since he didn't truly have the job yet.

I'm not surprised at all that Jewish Americans have given him such high approval rating. Most Jewish Americans are usually left leaning on the political spectrum and usually support Democrats. Also, Obama is a huge supporter of Israel and AIPAC (America's Pro-Israel Lobby Group). So to them it's always a win-win because both Democrats and Republicans ALWAYS support AIPAC, which is a real shame.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovugclIWMEk

Anyway, Muslim Americans give Obama a decent approval rating because of Bush. It's all in comparison. Compared to Bush and how he treated the Muslim world - Obama is a great improvement. It doesn't mean Muslims agree with Obama, it just means that compared to the DISMAL presidency of Bush...Obama looks good.
Obama mentioned Muslims in his inaugural speech, he visited Muslim countries, he has an Arabic middle name, he's a minority (African-American) himself so there is a connection there, he says he has Muslim relatives and they have HOPE that he might be more even-handed on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict (not gonna happen).
I expect that initial high approval rating to plummet after people realise Obama is pretty much the same when it comes to foreign policies.
I think, like most Americans, Muslims are still waiting to see what Obama does. It's only been just a little over 100 days into his presidency. Let's see how he handles Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, and Pakistan

So Jewish people actually like the guy and us Muslims just like him, because he's not Bush? Are you kidding me? Don't generalize all of us Muslims. All of my Muslim family members and myself support President Obama's policies. And when it comes to liking him much better compared to Bush, well what person doesn't? But please don't say we ONLY like him for that reason.

"Let's see how he handles Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, and Pakistan"...You think Muslims only care about those countries? lol...I'm sorry, but this Muslim cares about so much more. Yes, those countries are important, but it's important for ALL Americans. I don't know whether or not you're a Muslim, but you really seem to have us all wrong. You're making it seem as though all of us must care about the same issues and it's not true. We don't all have the same positions on issues, because we are all individuals.

"All of my Muslim family members and myself support President Obama's policies"

-That's nice that you support every single one of Obama's policies. You're part of a minority.

"And when it comes to liking him much better compared to Bush, well what person doesn't?"

-Um, actually lots of people don't. Some people actually like Bush and think Obama is worse.

"But please don't say we ONLY like him for that reason"

-No, I didn't write that. I think you have a problem with reading and comprehension. Re-read FULLY what I wrote.

"You think Muslims only care about those countries?"

-No, I don't think Muslims "only" care about those countries but seeing that those countries are the most important right now and how we deal with them...it would be silly not to care about them. I also didn't write that those are the only policies Muslims care about.

"but you really seem to have us all wrong"

-No, dear. You just have a problem reading.

That's a really shallow thought to be saying muslims only like obama because of bush. That's not true. Most muslims already know how the US stand in the palestine-israel conflict so there's no surprises there. It's obama's attitude towards other people, other countries that makes him well like by a lot of people.

I know a lot of muslims from countries like malaysia, indonesia, brunei, thailand and even india who don't like the talibans and how they run afghanistan. When America attacked Afghanistan, to most muslims it's probably justifiable because of sept 11 but the Iraq war was another story. Obama didn't start the Iraq war so i think it's very unlikely his approval rating will change that much among muslims unless he starts a war with Iran. But Muslims care about other things too other than how obama handles iraq, afghanistan, pakistan etc.

What's really shocking is the 40+ approval from the LDS.

Before they took office a bunch of their kids were chanting "Assassinate Obama" on a school bus- and I mean little kids.

They despise non-Republicans.

The 3rd Mormon president (prophet), John Taylor said that black people were Satan's representatives on Earth. And although Mormons, may be seen as quiet, peaceful people, their history shows that they are willing to commit horrific acts, if they feel their religion is threatened.

Ditto every religion on earth. Which is what makes the REAL history so fascinating, if it isn't being bumped off the web. The story of the Popes in the 12-15th centuries was a wild ride. Makes Berlusconi's antics look like five-year-old pranks.

Dont forget we are only now hearing about the real history of our civilization. The printing press was only invented 600 years ago and it was controlled by the Vatican for centuries, Luthur' s stab on the church door notwithstanding.

We have to wait for all of these documents to be translated, and they haven't been. We have centuries upon centuries of info to uncover, and anyone who relies upon the translations upon translations upon translations of the Old and New Testaments to circumscribe history is an idiot. Ever play Simon Says? That's our known history.
