Rahm Wants It: Emanuel Tightens Grip On Treasury Department

WASHINGTON -- On Jan. 20, Timothy Geithner took control of the Treasury Department, directing the government's response to the financial crisis.

Within three weeks, the White House tightened its grip, alarmed by the poor reaction to Mr. Geithner's performance during the rollout of his rescue plan, government officials say. Since then, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has been so involved in the workings of the Treasury that "Rahm wants it" has become an unofficial mantra among some at the Treasury, according to government officials.

Rahm Emanuel's name can be interpreted as “the high god who walks among us.” This is the signature of COYOTE and if he is not Coyote himself, then Coyote walks in his shadow.

I was one of the many people who was saddened by President Obama's choice of Emmanuel in the new administration. Insincerity and self-interest oozes from every word that comes out of both sides of his mouth. Just another Clinton-era retread in an Obama administration that 'salready starting to feel like Jimmy Carter all over again.

I think it was a big mistake to bring Rahm back into the White House. He's not been doing a very good job as Chief of Staff, and his control-freak personality is starting to have dire consequences for the Obama Administration, just as it did for Clinton. I wish Obama would fire him and get someone who isn't so beholden to so many special interests.

Interesting how the WH has so much control over Treasury but they always let Geithner take all of the heat when something goes wrong.

This is a good post. It makes all the difference knowing the facts. So, poor Geithner took a tremendous amount of heat because of AIG's duplicity in not giving him fair warning. Better yet would have been to have discussed it with him, not just dump it on him as a foregone conclusion.
