Steele Agrees Obama "Is The Magic Negro"

While hosting Bill Bennett's radio show Friday morning, Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele appeared to agree with a caller that President Obama is "the magic Negro."

CALLER: It's just like the LA Times said last year, or two years ago -- he is the magic Negro.

STEELE: Yeah he is -- [laughter]. You read that too, huh?

CALLER: Oh yeah. I read that too. And even when things go wrong, he still manages to come out smelling like a rose.

STEELE: Well, yeah. And it's because he's getting unprecedented coverage -- cover -- by the media.

Steele's amused reaction is somewhat surprising. When former RNC chairman Chip Saltsman released a CD including a parody song "Barack The Magic Negro" in January -- inspired by the same LA Times article -- Steele said it "doesn't help at all ... it reinforces a negative stereotype of the party." Saltsman withdrew from the race to remain chairman in the wake of the scandal.

A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.
Thomas Jefferson

For a people who are free, and who mean to remain so, a well-organized and armed militia is their best security.

Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government.

The Republicans simply think that because a woman (Hillary) and a black man (Obama) did so well with voters for the Democrats that all they needed to do to was get one or two of them as well .Then they could be just as successful. They can't concieve anyone judging a person on thier merits and not thier race or gender. Sadly that has become what really seperates the parties. The Democrats really do believe everyone is created equal. The Republicans just say they do. Unfortunately for the GOP, thier insincerity is glaringly obvious to most of the American people.

Women and minorities are gimmicks and props to the GOP. I doubt they'll ever get it.

Michael Steele is an embarrasment to the GOP and very jealous of President Obama.

Michael Steele is an embarrasment to Black Folk. Steele and Condoleeza Rice do not have the sense to realize when they are being used.

I think that blind ambition is what motivates both of them. Neither would have had much chance to reach the levels they did had they chose to become Democrats. I think their ambition and lust for power is what allowed them to be used.

Face It. The GOP is beyond embarrassment. Ignorance, bigotry, racism and misteps are the norm. They are a band of human cartoons ready to amaze with the incredible lack of apparent knowledge and intelligence.

Once upon a loooooooooooooong time ago I thought Michael Steele had something on the ball. I was waiting to see him as an intelligent leader who would really make a difference--make a significant contribution and be known for his historical position in the GOP. I really didn't "know" him, but I thought he really was "on the ball", and I was looking forward to seeing what he was going to do. Oh, well.

He has become the RNC's token African American.....

Laughing at racist humor, well as long as it's aimed at a Democrat........

Michael Steele is no more the head of the republican party than Barack Obama is. It goes without saying that a real party head would not run to kiss Boss Limbaugh's posterior and apologize for daring to critisize him.
09:26 PM on 05/02/2009
I find it hilarious that anyone would allow this man to sit in for them on their radio show! He can't speak in public without humiliating himself and making a laughingstock of the gop.

Republicans are on strike against America, or said another way they have decided to keep digging to get out of the hole they're in - I'm sure at some point I'll begin to feel sorry for them, but I intend to enjoy the spectacle for as long as is practicable.

It's just painful as an African American to watch Michael Steele sell his soul to the devil. For what? A few gold coins? Michael doesn't realize that if he were in Barack's position, Limbaugh et al., would be saying the same things about him. It's just sad.

This is America and its OK to sell out if you want.. Its not against the law, but it does look FUNNY

Just like true Democrates, fact less, base less and most of you hiding behind some skirt, to afraid to show your faces while your mouths moving faster then the brain. So you get to mess things up for 4-8 years, than as usual, it takes a Republican to fix it and keep you safe.

...Not that there's anything wrong with that!

It really takes a true Republican to project their failures on someone else. All you have are failed policies - nothing else. Your "party of no" has nothing to contribute but bankrupt ideas.NEXT!

Steele is an angry black man, bitter and destined for even greater embarrassment as he takes lower roads.
09:16 PM on 05/02/2009
If he's angry and bitter, he has no one to blame, but himself! He's a dunce! He can't come close to the President. He's being used and he doesn't even know how to take advantage of that! He seems to be a puppet for whomever is speaking at the moment.
