Steele Agrees Obama "Is The Magic Negro"

While hosting Bill Bennett's radio show Friday morning, Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele appeared to agree with a caller that President Obama is "the magic Negro."

CALLER: It's just like the LA Times said last year, or two years ago -- he is the magic Negro.

STEELE: Yeah he is -- [laughter]. You read that too, huh?

CALLER: Oh yeah. I read that too. And even when things go wrong, he still manages to come out smelling like a rose.

STEELE: Well, yeah. And it's because he's getting unprecedented coverage -- cover -- by the media.

Steele's amused reaction is somewhat surprising. When former RNC chairman Chip Saltsman released a CD including a parody song "Barack The Magic Negro" in January -- inspired by the same LA Times article -- Steele said it "doesn't help at all ... it reinforces a negative stereotype of the party." Saltsman withdrew from the race to remain chairman in the wake of the scandal.

Steele 'craves' the kind of media coverage that President Obama gets. He "wishes" he could be that popular. But he is not, and is never ever going to be anything but what he is, which is a token, to show that the GOP has 'changed' to open the doors wide to other races than overweight angry white men.

I just can't find words to describe republicans.
I am in Orange County California, that happens to be very republican, and the local newspaper (OCRegister) is totally pro-republican.
Is really sad to see all of them portraiting as good and understanding people, and of coarse very christians heavy religious white, Whom descriminats (even their own shadows) and acused Obama of being a Socialist.­..
Their Ignorance goes so far beyond, that they have no clue between socialism, and Communist differences.
In my opinion, They had being so much brain wash by their churches, and RCN Party for decades, that now they got stack in time.

So my question is: how they can be so against this president, when the whole world loves Him?
Is the world wrong?, and these republicans so "Unique"?

Many Republicans think we are supposed to against and hate a lot of the rest of the world. It has never made any sense to me to hate different races and cultures of people. Those ideas and feelings have to be taught in their families, their churches and organizations. I have never understood who or what Republicans are supposed to look and think like, but I am pretty sure that President Obama is not it. That is why I am proud to have voted for him and I am proud that he won.

Miichael Steele is a good plan gone bad. The republican power structure thought that, by having Steele (and Palin) as their public face(s), the American people would believe that the GOP was becoming more inclusive. What they failed to realize is that you can't always control what a human puppet says or does. Anyone who isn't an institutional racist knows that people should be judged on their merit, not their race or gender. The GOP doesn't yet understand that, thus the Steele/Palin Carnival.

The GOP's problem is that they're always trying to "look like" something instead of actually "being" something. They're so busy spinning the look that they forget that people might actually want them to honestly be for something. If only two black people attend the Republican national convention before the election and directly after the election you make one of those two people your new leader, didn't they realize that people probably wouldn't believe there was anything genuine about that choice. Before he was President people looked at him and thought black man. Before his white mother sent him back here to the states she taught him about African Americans and racism. She was white but she knew what he would endure in the states. He struggled with his identity but taught himself how to be a black man by reading and hanging around black people on the military base in Hawaii. Most blacks have white in them if they aren't the color black like straight from Africa. If you shake our family trees white people fall out.
