Funny People

nytimes.com:

ASSUMING Judd Apatow doesn't change his mind, and he often does, his new movie, "Funny People," will begin with a scene of Adam Sandler as no paying audience has ever seen him. In grainy video a boyishly goofy Mr. Sandler, still in his 20s with a tilted baseball cap on his head, is shown as he lies across a messy bed in a dingy Los Angeles apartment, making prank phone calls to the delight of a few off-screen observers.

In the context of the movie (set for release on July 31), this is our introduction to the fictional comedian George Simmons, who grew up, got famous, became an arrogant movie star and then was told he had a fatal illness. For the character, the scene is a final moment of innocence before he loses his way on the road to celebrity and success.

Adam Sandler is the least talented and funny actor out there. The only reason he works is because his relatives control Hollowood.

Sandler and Apatow together ......two individuals with whom i can not imagine wasting a single second of my precious lfe. Two individuals whos idea of comedy is enough to send me to a Tibetan Monestory to escape the putrification of comedy as we know it in the 21st centrury.

They are completely ignorant of space-war tactics.

Like most entertainers he has good ones (Punch Drunk Love) and bad ones - okay REALLY bad ones - Zohan. I like Adam Sandler, but not in Adam Sandler Movies, if that makes sense.

Adam Sandler is one of the least talented actors alive. Last night I succumbed to my kids' pleas to see "Bedtime Stories". They were so bombarded with Disney promos they didn't now any better. It was the dumbest move since "Zohan" and my kids are finally done with Sandler. The script showed that no one bothered to put any care into the story. Disney simply depended upon Sandler's box office past and over the top visual effects to drive box office demand without any concern for their audience. Total crap.

I don't know what it is, but I like him. Everyone likes him. My husband likes him, and my children like him.
He has a few good movies that I've enjoyed. The Wedding Singer, Spanglish, and Punch Drunk Love. He can also be very annoying, but for the most part his movies do pretty well.

Those are the three that I like, too. I'd add Bulletproof as a guilty pleasure. He's got some talent, and it seems to comes out whenever he's not in charge of the movie.

Zohan was the breaking point.
