Michele Bachmann: Obama Led Spending "Orgy," Government "Spent Its Wad" (VIDEO)

Rep. Michele Bachmann is on a roll. Less than a week after suggesting a link between the swine flu outbreak and Democratic control of the U.S. government, the Minnesota Republican penetrated a heretofore unseen zone of weirdness and accused the Obama administration of premature fiscal ejaculation.

On Saturday, May 2, Bachmann delivered a rally speech in which she said the administration had engaged in an "orgy" of spending and that the government "spent its wad" too early. The previous administration, she noted, hadn't spent its wad until early August.

"During the last 100 days we have seen an orgy. It would make any local smorgasbord embarrassed," Bachmann said. She then told the crowd that April 26 was National Debt Day, which conservatives commemorate as the moment government spending outpaces revenue. As Bachmann explains, "The government spent its wad by April 26. Every dime government spends after April 26 throughout the rest of this fiscal year is borrowed money."

Bachmann only represents MN's 6th congressional district, not the entire state. The majority of MN's congressional delegation are democrats, MN will soon have two democratic Senators, and the MN DFL is poised to win the 2010 gubernatorial election whether Pawlenty runs or not.

As bad as it is for the rest of us, please keep the people of Stearns, Benton, Wright, Washington, Anoka, and Sherberne counties in your thoughts and prayers. For the people Bachmann is charged to represent are of two classes. One is scorned to have her as their rep. The other voted for her.
Both are to be pitied.

And they're the first to be offended when someone uses a foul word in their presence. I grew up in the late 60's and early 70's and had a Dad who cursed something awful his entire life so swearing in nothing new. However, sexual innuendo is indecent and indicative of a mind that cares not a whit about staying out of the gutter. I, for one, would never let any child near the people who voted Bachmann into office.

My 81-year-old mother used the phrase "shot my wad" recently, meaning she was exhausted. I googled it before I told her why I was so stunned. Used to have a different meaning related to muskets. "People were, literally, were shooting wads in the earliest days of guns since the "wad" was what held the powder and ball (musket ball) in position until the gun was fired."

The expression seems to have come to mean coming to the end of .... energy, money, etc., until probably the baby boomers or later, when it took on sexual connotations.

I'm no Michelle Bachman fan, but on this one my guess is she is simply too sheltered to have a clue about the contemporary meaning.

Navyguns, thanks for staying awake during your "munitions from days gone by" classes. Your interpretation of what Bachmann meant to say is out in right field someplace near the warning track. She knew exactly the metaphor her language usage was reaching for, and if you dare give her credit for having an understanding of muzzle loader firearms, you need 20 lashes mister. I will guarantee you, and bet you serious coin, that you will NEVER hear her claim she was misinterpreted. As such, if she uses "shooting your wad" in a context, where her muzzle loader knowledge is absent, and the "other" connotation is in full bloom, accept it. The 3 hours filled by AC360, Olbermann or MAddow are full of opportunity for the discerning person to identify something they say as being worthy of your critiques.

But do not insist our blue sky is green or something, and then try to defend your obvious color blindness by blaming TV-people you happen to not like very much.
