Craigslist, State Attorneys General Meeting About Sex Ads
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- State attorneys general from Missouri, Illinois and Connecticut plan to begin negotiations with Craigslist to eliminate what they contend are advertisements for illegal sexual activities.
The three attorneys general will represent a group of their peers around the country Tuesday at a meeting in New York with officials from the Internet classified ad service.
Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster called some ads on Craigslist irresponsible and illegal.
The negotiations come amid national attention to online ads after a Boston medical student was accused of killing a masseuse he met through Craigslist.
Philip Markoff also was charged in Rhode Island on Monday with assault and weapons violations.
