And the irony of this years Derby is the Sheik who 747ed his 2 million dollar colt to Louisville, only to get beat by a $9500 plug who trailered in from New Mexico. Gotta love it.

Which came first? The promotional TV blitz or the interest in horse racing. I don't hear anything about horse racing until it's time for these three races, and then I don't hear anything until the next year.

Bet the winner won't have 50 to 1 odds for the next race.

It helped to get a nice lead-in from a competitive NHL Stanley Cup playoff game featuring the league's top two stars (Ovechkin and Crosby).

This event is the pinnacle of a "sport" of enormous cruelty.

All those who bet on horses, go to the tract or participate in the industry are contributing to dreadful animal cruelty.

Letterman had a woman in the audience who had bet on "Mine that Bird" and won a whopping $60.... too funny. She was really happy.....it was cute. I wonder what the biggest payout was on a bet?

A $2 bet on the Superfecta (first 4 horses in order) would have got you about $557K....not bad

IMHO the horse racing industry is a dying entity. It must have been the weather that kept people inside to watch this year's Derby. This was the poorest crop of 3 year old colts in a long time.
