the reporter failed to metion the didputed indian provinces of punjab & kashmir. the talliban has been in full control for over 15 years. the taliban just sent the mayor & it's entire police forces of lahore packing. lahore is pakistan's third largest city right behind karachi & islamabad. as we speak 2 million pakistanis are fleeing the region or face extermination by the taliban. this crisis is changing by the day in the taliban's favor.

Bush and Cheney, Rumsfeld and Condi Rice practically handed the WMDs to the Taliban, when they turned and ran at Tora Bora, and then directed our military at Iraq where there were no Therm Nuclear weapons...Iraq..!

It's one of the great strategic blunder in history, right up there with the Trojans bring that Horse inside of their city walls, and Hitler and or Napoleon invading Russia...

The government wants to triple funding for Pakistan. We will be involved in 3 wars in the middle east. That will be so good for our economy and our military.

I bet they're losing sleep over this one...!

We attack invade occupy Iraq for non existent WMD's, meanwhile the Taliban and al-Qaeda go for the mother load of accessible thermo nuclear warheads with delivery systems almost ready to go...

People never understand when I criticize our generals and the history of bad generals America in reality has produced and seems to be systemic....

When you have a dufus as we did as President and the accompanying neo con war monger profiteers as we did it is up to the generals to make it known to the public, and if not also our nearly worthless Senate and Congress in this as so many other cases that this plan is needless and also fruitless and even potentially disastrous....

This misdirection of our army and and obsession with Iraq by Bush and his followers may very well have doomed the world to warfare unlike any we have ever seen or seen since WWII....

Nuclear exchange between India and Pakistan is almost guaranteed and also parts of Europe, Rome and Italy are prime targets of the Taliban and al-Qaeda....as well as of course India "the polytheists" as they call them and of course Israel...

The Iraq War may very well have been a crucial strategic needless plunder that will change the balance of power in the world forever...and cost the world millions if not billions of lives...

It's that bad...

Everyone wishes that. Sadly, NATO troops are stationed right next door and Pakistan has Nukes. So we can't help but get involved.

If you have a huge army, tanks and jets and nuclear weapons, and you can hold off the Indian Armed Forces, how the deuce can a bunch of nutters with Kalashnikovs and Toyota pickups from the 80's pose a serious threat?

Even if Pakistan won't stop them, rest assured, India can and will.

As I just learned, and others may have already said,
you make the frame perfectly but hee's the picture: the Pakistani army thinks it might need radical Islamic nutcases bordering Kashmir if it comes to a fight, and they want Afghanistan on their other flank as unstable as can be, lest India gain influence there. Remember the Taliban blowing up the Buddhist statues? Who's Buddhist?

Let's not forget who funded the muhahedin, the precursors to the Taliban. The genesis of this problem was partly in the Cold War.

Pakistan lost Pakistan. It's never been politically stable.

No US President has ever had Pakistan in their grip and actually, that's a really good thing.

In fact no Pakistani President has ever had Pakistan orderly. Pakistan is - like a lot of nations - held together by one or two ideologies and divided by hundreds more. Though in Pakistan the divisions are often stronger than the common ideologies and they need military force to make up the difference.

So having Pakistani co-operation at the top, the Pakistani President, means nothing if the Pakistani President is basically powerless over his own constituency.

Unless Pakistan reviews it's reluctance to kill the Taliban because they are fellow Muslims, they will lose. The Taliban certainly don't see things that way.

Wow, what could go wrong? The HOPES of a newer, brighter world are fading fast. The election of such an historic figure was supposed to CHANGE world opinions. Apparently, past trouble spots are still trouble spots, and maybe getting worse. He promised soooooo much and has delivered soooo little, SO FAR. But, my l o ins are girded, praise be.
