Levi Johnston: Bristol Palin's Abstinence Campaign Is "Unrealistic" (VIDEO)

It's Palin vs. Johnston again. This time Levi Johnston, the former fiancee of Sarah Palin's teenage daughter Bristol, went on CBS The Early Show to comment on Bristol's new abstinence campaign. Levi and Bristol's son, Tripp, was born in December. Levi has gone on the record to point out the pregnancy was an accident that may have happened during the "few times" they didn't wear condoms.

This morning, Bristol was on Good Morning America to kick off her abstinence campaign. Today she'll speak on a panel in New York to promote the issue.

Levi was asked whether he thought Bristol's campaign was effective.

"Abstinence is a great idea," he said, "but I also think you need to enforce, you know, condoms and birth control and other things like that to have safe sex. I don't just think telling young kids, you can't have sex, it's not going to work. It's not realistic.

" ... It's a great idea and a great message she's trying to send out to the world and all the young kids. It's not easy raising a baby. But I do think there's more things to it than just not having sex."

Funny. Last fall these two were ready to be married. Now they're warring in public.

So let me sort through this.

They could have had a shotgun wedding, then divorced. According to Republicans, that wouldn't have threatened their precious sanctity of marriage. Yet, allowing gays to marry does? Give me a break!

Bristol Palin is a carbon copy of her mother. She's more interested in the public spotlight and a dressy wardrobe than realizing she's messed up.

I wish the press would shut up about the Palins. How long until Alaska can vote in a new Governor?

If I was a teenager I would rather here this from someone that practiced it, not someone that has enjoyed having sex, know how it feels, and then tell me not to have it. I want some one to lead by there examples.

Their teen target market is going to look at the images -- Bristol is looking slim and rested, well-dressed, hair and make up professionally done, appearing on TV. Levi is also well rested, seems sweet and caring regarding his son, and a good looking boy to boot. Then there are the occasional photos with a beautiful sleeping baby. (Not to mention they are broadcasting from New York, Seattle, not podunk Alaska)

So if you shut off the words.....Looks like a very attractive ad advocating teen pregnancy in my opinion.

I want to comment on how this article was framed by the author: "It's Palin vs. Johnston again. This time....". I think that, while perhaps a convenient way to start, it's a poor way because it tends to diminish the importance of any truth value or substantive value to what might then be said, or reported. "Oh, it's only an issue of those two going at it again..." rather than either party having a valid point to make or for us to consider regarding the issue at hand, whatever that Issue is. A better approach would be to just focus on the issue, and leave aside the "he said, she said" (ad hominem) issue.

I hope Levi seriously overshadows Bristol and the Palin family. I can't stand them and I hope he goes ahead with a lawsuit to get joint custody of his son. I would love to see the look on their faces when Bristol gets served with papers.

Levi, my advice. Do it! Sue for custody. Otherwise, these Wasila hillbillies will run roughshot over you and you deserve better!
