Elisabeth Joe

Elisabeth Hasselbeck disowned "Joe The Plumber" Thursday morning on "The View."

Hasselbeck, who campaigned on the trail with Sarah Palin in October, took Joe the Plumber to task for his recent comments that "queers" aren't welcome around his children.

"I think this is an ignoramus statement," Hasselbeck said. "In that specified corner to which he had a life during this election, I was even a person who thought, you know what, power to Joe the Plumber at that point. Well, Joe the Plumber is not invited anywhere around me. "

Joy Behar promptly screamed, "Turning! Turning! Turning!" implying that Hasselbeck, a stalwart Republican, was turning into a Democrat.

When are you guys going to get over Joe "The Plumer"? He's a private citizen, who asked a legitimate question and was attacked for it by the media. Why? Because the answer Obama gave revealed his true intentions of spreading the wealth...

If the left thinks spreading the wealth is such good economic policy.... why do they always try to sweep any notion of it under the rug every time it comes up?????

If you want to have a debate on if spreading the wealth works or not that's fine..... Attack Joe "The Private Citizen" was disgraceful and unAmerican!

I would think an "ignoramus" could not identify another ignoramus.
Apparently there's a tipping point of "stoopid" that finally sets off an alarm.

Oh please! So NOW...she's realized he's an ignoramus? I'm pretty sure he still felt the same way about what he said the other day, back when she was all, "Yeah! Power to Joe The Perpetrating Plumber!" and encouraging all his other pathetic nonsense . What's so different now, Elizabeth?

But everything else that he has said in the political arena was not?

Why does anyone take what she has to say seriously? She was on survivor and married a football player. Shouldn't she be at home pumping out children and homeschooling her children about Creationism like all other hard core conservatives?

He has a right to defend this children even if as you allege he isn't making those child support payments. True or not he does have the right as a father to protect his children from the lavendar lobby.

Maybe his "stimulus " payments hasn't arrived in the mail? Or maybe he hasn't made the child support waiting for Obama to take control of the economic engine that will bring back those ONE HALF MILLION jobs we lost in April. Way to go Obama for jump starting the economy! Have you found the "start" button yet?

The Democrats seem to want to forget the terrible things they did to Blacks by hiding behind the “fairy tale” election of President Obama. First of all, The 40 ares and a mule, created by the Republican party, was defeated by the Democrats.

Not to inflate the GOP’s ego, because the GOP lately has neglected to reach out to blacks, but do remember that it was the Republican Party that “committed a great public crime when it gave the right of suffrage to the blacks” stated Thomas Jefferson, Co-Founder of the great Democratic party. Come to think of it, President Roosevelt, who received most of the black vote, excluded blacks in his New Deal. It was Eleanor Roosevelt (whom I suspect was a Republican), who tried to keep blacks from absolute neglect.

The stigmatization of the Republican Party has got to stop. There history of Democratic Party’s intolerance is at last resurfacing and showing its ugly face. In time, everyone will come to realize that it’s nothing but a ploy to silence the opposition. So, Stop the intolerance. Just because American voters elected a bi-racial man as president does not mean that the whole country should suddenly “hail” the Democratic Party and assume that a one party system is heaven on earth.

The GOP has done great work and perhaps it is time to re-commit to complete the work-in-progress. Outcasting those who show extremism is a beginning.

Thank goodness someone said that! All this ranting just drives me crazy. I have friends who are Republicans, Democrats and Independents; how in the world do we manage to get along without all the ranting that goes on on these posts? We act like grownups - that's how. Just as I never taught my children to hate those who believed differently from them in regard to life, religion, etc., my friends and I don't hate each other because we vote differently from one another.

Thanks for the 1865 history lesson. But this is 2009, and the republican party now is strongests in the old confederacy. Its was a democrat, Truman, who integrated the armed forces. Its was democrats, that passed civil rights legislation in the 1960s that ended segregation and voting discrimination. Democrats were afraid of losing the south, which Lyndon Johnson rightfully predicted when he signed that legislation. But the slimeballl republican party was happy to fill the void in the south.

The modern Democratic Party was founded by followers of Andrew Jackson and first appeared during the election of 1828. The Republican Party was founded in 1854. The Fifteenth Amendment was first proposed by congress in 1869. Thomas Jefferson died in 1826, 44 years before the amendment was ratified granting “the right of suffrage to the blacks”. Otherwise it was a pretty good quote. It will further stigmatize Republicans as anti-intellectuals who never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Yeah, they did really well on racial progress when they pursued the "Southern Strategy" to pick up former Democrats who were mad at LBJ for signing Civil Rights legislation. And then there was the classy display Ronald Reagan put on when he announced his candidacy in Philadelphia, Mississippi by saying "I believe in states' rights.' "States' rights" is the dog whistle term for segregation. What made it even more disgusting was that Philadelphia, Mississippi was where Schwerner, Cheney, and Goodman, the three civil rights worker lynched.

The welfare queen, the invocation of Willie Horton to scare whites from scary blacks, affirmative action as the only way for blacks to get anything, etc.

Spare us the "GOP likes blacks" line. The GOP likes Uncle Toms who are willing to go out and do their bidding. They hate the rest of us.

Um - your eloquently written diatribe is . . . . well, is just a grouping of very fancy words with no real truth to it.

Every party every created in the United States has, in the past, done wrongs to one group or another.

But the Democrats have, for the past 60 years, been actively trying (and in many ways, accomplishing) the rights of black in the United States.

It is the Republicans that have stood firm in their belief that the US is a good old white mans club. Oh, yes, they certainly make a token gesture towards blacks so it is not obvious (they think) to the general public that they don't want them in their club.

But, like a true Republican, you choose to pretend to be all inclusive.
