wsj.com:

The Republican Party's unending tale of woe sounds like a friend's account of sitting through the New York Yankees' 22-4 loss to the Cleveland Indians at the new Yankee Stadium April 18.

In the 14-run second inning, three Indians hit home runs into the right-field seats, including a grand-slam. One ball hit a woman in the head because the fans had stopped watching the game. A nasty fight broke out in the stands. After the fourth inning (16-2), the subway trains taking Yankee faithful back to Manhattan were packed. Republicans know the feeling.

When President Reagan took office inflation and interest rates were very very high and our nation was a joke on the world stage due to the hostage situation. President Reagan turned it all around.

Ronnie Raygun rots away with his philosophy. Let the Repubs cling to his carcass. It will keep them out of power.

So Jeb Bush (Bush!!!!) thinks that GOP, Inc. should forget Reagan-I would agree, except to add that it is the name Bush, not Reagan, that is truly toxic in the American political lexicon, or should be.
Jeb is an ingrate, since were it not Reagan's huge (if misguided) popularity, his father would never have even come close to winning the White House, and his hapless elder brother would probably be just another failed CEO/Banker waiting for a federal bailout, as opposed to an ex-POTUS laying the groundwork for his presidential library, and searching desperately for any bright spots to add to his legacy of failure and incompetence.

Did the writer of this headline even read this article? The WSJ opinion piece states just the opposite - that the GOP has to go back to being the party of Reagan.

It makes for a really interesting headline, but it's a LIE! Any journalistic standards around here?

Old Drooler is responsible for helping destroy the Middle Class. He was a chickenhawk that made pro war movies but he never had the guts to serve as did Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, Glenn Miller etc..He sold out members of the Screen Actors Union to save his own hide during the HUAC hearings, married the woman that gave the best blowjobs in Hollywood, acted the part of a common man and when elected did nothing but favor the rich and strip benefits from the average man. His presidency was a fiscal disaster of spending and deficits and opened the door to the current Bush Depression. Where's his grave? I want to let my dog take a dump on it.

I like your style. Your content isn't half bad either. It seems as though the Republican movers and shakers prefer their presidents a little on the vacant side - that way, they're less likely to ad-lib.

RE: The full Kemp phrase, of course, was "incentives to work, save and invest." Those incentives were to be the result of a government willing to admit the social benefits of modesty -- in taxation and regulation of the economy. For now, the American public has elected an immodest government.

Blah, blah, blah. Trying to get out of being accountable and trying to rewrite history. The usual stuff.

Yes, the GOP needs to forget Reagan. They've idolized him and put him up onto a pedestal that he didn't even live up to. They should beware.

In fact, the blossoming of high tech did have deep roots in government spending, primarily DARPA.

In 1980 the campaigning Reagan supported the government bail out Chrysler and as well as New York.

It's easy to put words in the mouths of dead politicians from past generations but it doesn't inform our present at all.

It also had roots in the counter-culture, which Reagan loathed...guys hacking Ma Bell on campus...guys cranking out their own stuff in a garage instead donning white shirt and black tie and working for IBM.

The Republicans are so UNORIGINAL and superficial. They mimic everything. The only thing they ever had going for them was Reagan and they just cling to that with white knuckles. With Clinton we then saw the manufacturing of Palin to the national stage. With Obama we are now seeing the attempt to prop up Jindal and a very awkward pick to lead their party with Steele (Hey we got blackies and brownies too?) but skin color was never the point. Now they are trying to engineer their own grass roots movement mostly likely to emulate the grass roots movement that gave us Obama. The Republicans never had good ideas and never will. They are the party of "hey things are good for me I don't want to change a anything". Isn't content and smugness that the nature of conservatism? They don't try to innovate because they have no concern. The only thing that concerns them is taxes and and is a very bleak cause.

Ah yes forget what positioned the country for unprecedented economic growth, and let the Dems keep bringing up FDR and JFK, but Reps, no you aren't allowed to bring up someone who was successful.

The only thing rememberable about Ronald Reagans is my 8 year old sons comment when I ask him if he knew the president and he said.

"Yes, he is the the one with TIGHT hair and a LOOSE neck"
