MoveOn Targets Specter And Other Dems For Siding With Banks (VIDEO)

A series of new web ads by MoveOn.org targets Senate Democrats for stripping a provision from recently-passed bankruptcy reform legislation that would have allowed judges in certain circumstances to change the terms of a mortgage.

The biggest target among those Dems: Arlen Specter, the Pennsylvania turncoat. MoveOn says a new poll finds 85 percent of its Pennsylvania membership aren't charmed by Specter's party switch and might favor a primary challenger.

Six other Democrats are targeted in videos for their opposition to the provision, known as cramdown, which would have offered relief to certain homeowners in bankruptcy and in default on their mortgage. The measure failed after lobbying by the financial industry so intense that Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said of the upper chamber that banks "frankly own the place."

"Last week Senator Specter had a choice," says the ad targeting Specter. "Wall Street was trying to kill the president's proposal to help families facing foreclosure. Senator Specter could side with the banks or with Pennsylvania families..."

Each ad points out how much money the targeted Dem received from the financial industry.

Spector's spectacle will be short lived. He'll be replaced in the next election by a REAL, SINCERE and loyal democrat. (Sestak from Penn) Although I'm a democrat, I detest this type of posturing and finaggling for political reasons. There's enough of that crap in Washington already and he's either 80 or approaching it which makes him a career politician. Too many of those as well!

Without the stimulus package Pennsylvania would be a disaster, so the Pennsylvanians should be happy. Without the stimulus packages, many of the teachers, nurses, police officers, and firefighters in Pennsylvania would have been jobless.
Stimulus project across Pennsylvaina are allowing from many people to finds jobs, and be able to pay their mortgages, and avoid foreclosures. So Pennsylvania is lucky President Obama was elected!

I hope PA gets a real Democrat. This seat-switching smells like a Rove plan to keep PA in the GOP pocket.

Democrats should eye 'defecting' Republicans with the utmost suspicion. They're mostly just opportunists who will bring their Big Business loyalty into the tent and keep voting against ordinary working Americans.

I guess I will have to get back to supporting Moveon financially. I can't for the life of me understand why the President said there would be no Demo primary inPa to challenge Specter. Isn't this a states rights issue to be decided by the Democrats of Pa to who they want to represent them? I don't like Obama's not wanting to persue felonies by the Bush people either. The police in investingating crimes don't say let's move on as the crimes were committed in the past. Moveon will have to take on a lot more than Blue Dog Demos and vulnerable Republicans. Holder isn't helping the Obama administration as well by being lackadaisical in pursuing Bush crimes. GOOD ON YOU MOVEON!

Specter does not need to be elected to a new term as a senator in 2010. I hope a good Dem jump into the race and whup him badly. Some people don't know when to retire, so they have to be forced into retirement.
