I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Adult film star Stormy Daniels talked with MSNBC's Contessa Brewer on Friday about her possible run to replace Louisiana Senator David Vitter in 2010.

Daniels was recruited to run through an effort called Draft Stormy, which she says she initially discounted as a political stunt by a "group of rogue fans." After realizing the group wasn't a joke, she decided to give the idea some real thought.

"The response was so overwhelmingly positive," she said. "I was getting flooded with email and messages from people wanting to talk to me. People, people saying they really needed me to do this, that they would do whatever it takes to help get David Vitter out of office, and I thought, you know this is obviously a great opportunity for me to get my voice out about the things I really care about."

Daniels told Brewer that her top concerns would be helping the economy of Louisiana and continuing her work to get rid of child pornography online.

Daniels said she realized that not everyone would take her run for office seriously, but that she could have a positive influence on the race regardless.

"You know the less seriously opponents take me, the easier it is for me to sneak up on them," Daniels said. "And maybe it will inspire someone else who is extremely qualified and who is the best person for the state to do the job. Maybe it will encourage that person to step up and run too."

Daniels said she just finished her listening tour and plans to spend the weekend thinking about whether or not she wants to run.

When she says "I'm with the government, and, as usual, I'm here to screw you" well, for a change we might look forward to it. LOL

Jesus !!

Even a hot porn star is more credible than Sarah Palin !

And for all you silly GOP kids who just soiled yourselves over what I just said....experience doesn't always equal credibility, capability or competence.

She said she did not seek this. And looking on the web, that seems true.
But I have seen her in a couple of interviews. She is not stupid.

Of course, she realizes the potential in publicity. Yet, instead of jumping in for the publicity, she is engaging in a listening tour. And she talked about being elected would really be a pay cut.
But she acts like she takes this really seriously.

Of course this is a fun story.
But, I am beginning to think she actually could be good.

Wow Swift

It feels so good to know that my State's issues entertain you. Unfortunately its not that funny for the people who live in the State. Please explain to me on what specific state issues she would be great on, b/c national office is not exclusively for national issues.

Bayou,

As funny as it may seem to have Stormy Daniels run for office, do you think she could do any worse than these life long politicians.

Being a congressman was not suppose to be a lifetime job, which it has turned into for so many. The senate is in such desperate need of term limits so we should never allow any one senator to gain the power the so many have.

Give Stormy a chance, she might surprise you.

Issues? Anybody can spout anything they want on issues.
You believe them? Why?

At this point in my life I would prefer someone with integrity and character would be more important than any fairy tale they could make up on any issue.

I'm saying the way she is acting, and what she is saying, she sounds like she is taking the POSSIBILITY of running more seriously than many other professional politicians I have seen.

Cheez, so sensitive.

Hey, I'm a political junkie.
The Franken / Coleman election is entertaining.
Michelle Bachmann and Michael Steele are entertaining.
The policy debate on healthcare is entertaining.
Krugman's economic blogs are entertaining.
This is just one thing among many.

Oh, yeah, Louisiana's governor, Boobie Jindal is also entertaining.

If she decapitated herself (or gave herself a lobotomy), started to eat human babies and spent her leisure time injecting heroin into bedridden seniors, Ms. Daniels would still be smarter and less offensive than David Vitter.

Vitter is worse. If the people of Louisiana don't want to see Stormy get a bunch of help, then they'd better do something about Vitter themselves. He's an offense to the entire country. I like Stormy a whole lot better than Vitter. I think a whole lot of people across the country are offended with the idea of Vitter being one of the fifty Senators who make or break laws for all of us. Clean up your own dirty laundry Louisiana and we won't feel the need to intervene.

Your help is appreciated but not necessary. Every state has dirty laundry, but noone has sought to influence their elections. I don't like Vitter, but why won't you seek to draft politicians like Kip Holden, the Mayor of Baton Rouge, who is a Democrat, and a good executive of one of the largest cities in the state. Where is his internet campaign, and he already has residence. No instead you seek to put a porn star to make a spectacle of our State.

Let me spell this out_ LEAVE LOUISIANA TO THE PEOPLE OF LOUISIANA. LET THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE AND NOT THE INTERNET DECIDE, THAT IS HOW WE GOT RID OF PUSH ( THE PEOPLE) AND THAT IS HOW WE WILL BOOT THESE IDIOTS. It does not matter what the history of our politics have been, nor does it matter how many colorful politicians we have elected. It was our choice not yours.

Thanx but no thanx

Good God,
I hope she does inspire someone who is well qualified and won't make a spectacle of my home state. I will keep saying this to the fans and people who do not even live in my state---STOP TRYING TO PUSH THIS BS ON LOUISIANA. OUR STATE HAS REAL ISSUES AND DOES NOT NEED THE SPECTACLE OF A PORN STAR AS A REPRESENTATIVE. By the way, to the people who are going to try and say something stupid in response---please identify your state, or parish.

Bayou,
Did you sleep through the debacles of Edwin Edwards, David Duke, Ray Nagin? If you don't want her we'll take her. Our idiots Governor Perry, Senator Cornyn and a host of others need some competition.

Nothing stupid.... serious question.

Do you prefer her... or David Vitter if offered that choice?

I personally find that an easy question to answer.

I would choose neither of them;Vitter or Daniels. Instead I would look to Kip Holden, the Mayor of Baton Rouge (D), or Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu (D). Where is the the internet campaign for these two qualified men? They have lived in Louisiana, they have worked in State government, and understand the current economic issues. Heck, it was Kip, who dealt with the influx of Katrina refugees, and he's the Chief Executive of the one of our largest cities. Anymore questions?

I think the problem is that LA is not used to having an honest person in office. Can't adjust to that possibility.

Pet,
I guess you would know since you have lived there right, or is it that you have read about Edwin Edwards, Huey and Earl Long, Vitter, and William Jefferson, etc... However, I can tell you from actually living in the State, we do have honest politicians. By the way, just b/c someone admits to being an adult film star in the internet age when it could not be hidden does not make them honest. By no means, will I take an admission that can not be hidden be mistaken for honesty. Vitter and Stormy skeleton we just know Vitter's. This is why we should get another candidate.

Vitter must go. Can Louisiana do it? I live in Ohio. But, the election of Senators to the United States Congress affects all of the country's citizens. A Senator from a state with a small population has just as much power as a Senator representing a highly populated state. I am not going to identify my (if, any) religious orientation. If I'm Jewish, would you automatically discount my opinion?

Jjgg,

You are right , a Senator does affect everyone with there vote, however, you must agree that a Senator effects his state the most b/c he/she represents their interests first. Therefore your Sen. from Ohio would affect how much federal aid your state will get for roads, schools, and other public projects. Similarly, when it comes to large government contracts, military base closings, and federal judges in/from your district, etc your Senator can have great influence in these decisions. So its not just a national issue, its State issue at its heart( which is the effective represenation of the interest of the people of that State). I feel Stormy and Vitter would have a problem in both categories.

What does religious orientation have to do with it? If you were talking about when I asked about identifying your parish--Parishes in Louisiana does not mean religious orientation, it is meant to identify what other states call Counties. We have Parishes instead of Counties.

I watched the interview and I can tell you she is 500 times better than Vetter and she sounded intelligent and capable of helping the people she represents, unlike him who follows only the Republicans talking points and is an adulterer, at least she is not hiding anything.

A small thing that I found encouraging... when asked if she would give contessa the scoop if she decided to make the run. Instead of giving the lame answer of "of course" that so many do, knowing they'll never be held to their promise and are just being disingenuous. Stormy actually said "I'll try". Instead of the disingenuous easy popular answer she, without thinking, answered honestly.

May be something little, but many times little things say a lot about someone.

Other than that... I know very little about her and if she would actually be any good at the job.

I have to wonder if some Dems are funding her run...this sort of reminds me of the book, "The Appeal" by John Grisham...essentially what happens is that during a judicial election (in the south) a group (backed by corporate money) is trying to get a certain judge elected who will be sympathetic to their cause. In order to marginalize the current judge, they pay another guy to run a really crazy rightwing campaign and throw smears and epithets at the more moderate (liberal?) judge, to erode support for her, and to energize the base.

This sort of feels like it could be the same thing in reverse. Especially because daniels was a porn star, so that brings the spotlight back on Vitter's prostitute scandal. Not that I really CARE all that much, considering Vitter should be gone...just an interesting thought I wanted to share.

Anybody else read that book out there? It's a pretty good read, and especially salient in the world were living in today...I'd recommend it, if anyone cares.
