Angry Former GOP Congressman Compares Cantor To Porn Star

Hey, kids! Remember how a couple weeks ago, House Minority Whip Eric Cantor was totally out of ideas, so he formed a new club with Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush called the National Council for a New America, and then went on a "listening tour" where the first and only stop was a restaurant called "Pie-Tanza" that wasn't even outside the Beltway? And there, they snacked on pizza and listened to each other say stuff that was basically indistinguishable from the stuff they had been saying all along, except this time, it was at a pizza place? Yeah. Those were good times. Like the movie Adventureland, only instead of sexy, disaffected college kids with sexy and disaffected hijinks at an amusement park, you have sad middle-aged men with sad middle-aged talking points at a pizza place.

Anyway, according to the American Spectator, not even the launch of this ambitious new experiment in soggy, third-rate rebranding succeeded in making Eric Cantor happy.

Cantor was most stung after last week's launch of what he termed a national "listening tour," when Stormy Daniels, an adult film actress, announced at the same time her own "listening tour" as she mulls a run for the Senate in Louisiana.

"Apparently it's true: great minds do think alike," quipped a former colleague of Cantor who lost his seat last election cycle, he believes, for supporting the Bush bank bailout plan at Cantor's request.

So there you have it, Eric Cantor apparently has a sad because people would much rather listen to pornstars! Of course, there's still the mystery of the identity of Cantor's snarky former colleague! Of the fourteen Republicans who lost election last year, there were only four who voted for the bailout bill: Chris Shays of Connecticut, Joe Knollenberg of Michigan, Jon Porter of Nevada, and Randy Kuhl of New York. I myself believe that Eric Cantor's public persona does not bespeak a great deal of intelligence or political acumen. He almost appears to me to be a caricature, and I sometimes have to remind myself that this is an actual functional human being, who also holds public office.

I do not know anything about Stormy Daniels. Apparently there are those who think that she is not possessed of great intelligence or great political acumen either.

We have women's groups that take great pains to protect and assist sex workers and to help them continually assert their human dignity in a society that would take that human dignity away. It seems to be truly unfair to this woman to assume that she lacks intelligence in the same way Eric Cantor appears to, simply because she has worked as a porn star.

So it seems to me to be truly insulting to this woman to say that she must be as stupid as Eric Cantor appears to be simply because of her involvement with a legal form of entertainment.

Being compared with Eric Cantor is serious, and some would find it seriously insulting. Eric Cantor is fair game because his public persona speaks for itself. But this woman is not fair game for such a profound insult simply by way of being a former or present sex worker.

I think this post misses the point. Congressman Cantor has laid himself bare. He has no clothes on, no cover and stands before the world wholly naked of ideas. When it comes to having ideas about how to make the United States a better place for its people, Congressman Cantor is a porn star -- fully naked. The problem with that is porn stars usually have the necessary equipment to do their work well -- that's why their stars. But the naked Congressman Cantor has been stripped naked of ideas in a world where he is supposed to be fully covered with ideas and found to be wanting -- found to be just another know-nothing.

The whole "listening tour" was so pathetic it was almost not funny. I'd feel sorry for them if they weren't such dicks. And calling off the "tour" because Rush said it should be a "teaching" tour not a listening tour? Way to show leadership Cantor! Can you say "spineless"? I knew you could.

Give me a choice between any of the current crop of Republican politicians and a porn star, I'll take the porn star every time. At least with a pornstar you know up front your gonna get screwed and exactly how much its gonna cost.

I have listened to Cantor for a while now to come to a fair assessment of his political skills. I don't mean to be insulting but Mr. Cantor is really dumb as a rock. I am yet to hear something from him which remotely makes sense, it worthy of serious consideration, and respectable in an intellectual sense even if it is an opinion of dissent (always welcomes in my book).
