Charlie Crist Senate Run May Face Conservative Revolt

The expected announcement Tuesday by Florida Gov. Charlie Crist that he's running for the Senate would seem to be a rare bit of good news for beleaguered Republicans.

But while Crist is a brand-name recruit with sky-high approval ratings and bipartisan appeal, his path to keeping the seat of retiring Sen. Mel Martinez in GOP hands has at least one significant roadblock: Sunshine State conservatives.

After having Jeb as governor..­.I thought Crist did a good job. He is a fair man who i am thinking of voting for in general election. He supported the stimulus package even when other repub governors in the nation was out grandstanding against it. He went around the state with President Obama to help garner support for the stimulus package.

I don't care if the rumors about him is true and he's gay, he's always put floridians first and as a democrat..­..I support Governor Crist.

The Gov, or Charlie, is know to be gay. He married - aka has a beard - last year when it was a long-shot that he'd be picked to be VP. Now, he's more centrist/moderate than most Republicans but he's still living a life as a hypocrite. The GOP just doesn't get US.

I'm just out and out thrilled that Charlie is making a mad dash for the senate! And I just know he's going to be thrilled about being out on the campaign trail. Speak out, Charlie, out loud, and out proud! And the other lovely thing? I think he'll make a delightful candidate, cheerful, positive, and as gay as spring sunshine. And he steps so lightly over issues and political nastiness -- his loafers barely touch the ground. Why, you'd think he had gossamer wings, he's so unimpeded by gravity. The rest of those candidates can just forget it -- they might as well put their campaigns in a old closet somewhere - I'm sure there's an empty one around somewhere. And if that wasn't enough, he's got that lovely, lovely new bride to campaign with him -- I'm sure together they'll beard every challenge.

the whole is staged and weird and he looks really ill at ease,... he has not been this way before - something strange is going on

Once the film "Outage" is released next week, Crist is toast! The guy has evidently been in the closet for years and his sham "marriage" won't save him. Say what you will about Floridians, they're very conservative. While homosexuality is one thing, the hypocrisy involved in hiding it as a politician is quite another! Floridians won't stand for it!

It will be indicative of the low level of ethics of the remainder of the Rethug party if they use gay rumors to defeat Crist.

Is Charlie Crist gay? How long since that has been a litmus test for Democrats? Anyway , Charlie has said exactly nothing on this matter. He has been married twice. There was about thirty years between the marriages. He is currently married, having been married last December, yes, to a woman. As you might expect this issue is incredibly poisonous down here.

carole and charlie got engaged on July 3 2008 --one day after the state of florida executed a man.
