Kate Gosselin: I Didn't Cheat With My Bodyguard

NEW YORK — Reality TV star Kate Gosselin said she isn't cheating on her husband, Jon, and called the accusations disgusting and unthinkable.

In a story published Tuesday on People magazine's Web site, Gosselin said she's the target of tabloid lies romantically linking her with a bodyguard who frequently travels with the family. She spoke out following recent accounts that portrayed her as the victim of her husband's infidelity.

The Gosselins, along with their eight children, star on the TLC reality show "Jon & Kate Plus 8," which captures on-camera the challenges of raising a large family.

But TV stardom has brought its own challenges in the form of unsought media attention.

Last week, Jon Gosselin denied reports of an affair with a 23-year-old schoolteacher, while apologizing for having put his family in an "awkward situation."

Now, it's Kate Gosselin's turn.

"The next story coming out from the animals that stalk us is about our security person and his family," she said, referring to bodyguard Steve Neild. "Already the allegations they're making about me are disgusting, unthinkable, unfathomable, and I am horrified."

She voiced regret that the family's friends had been drawn into the media frenzy, and said she was "totally panicking" that the scandalous publicity might drive them away.

"I keep calling them, begging, `Seriously, I'm so sorry. Don't run away from us.' They keep saying, `We're fine, we're fine.' But they have paparazzi in front of their house. It's so upsetting."

The fifth season of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" premieres May 25.

I've read the ramblings of an "open marriage" -- but they're supposedly religious. Since I'm not, those of you who are, how does the idea of an open marriage square with being good Christians?

I don't think Kate would go for that but how does she not know where her husband is at 2am!???? How does that work? And where are the children? Are they with Kate when she's doing all this press in NYC or with Jon? I'm not understanding how if Kate is doing press tours and Jon is partying -- who is taking care of the children? If Jon is out carousing, does that mean there's a nanny with the kids? Does this make sense?

And Kate is saying that the children are her first concern -- though I'm no conservative, I do like what much of what Dr. Laura says and she says the first concern should be your marriage. Kids pick up on when their parents are not happy and we can see this behavior w Maddy. I don't know why, but I find this all fascinating! I know, shame on me.

Yeah, I know, she can be off putting but if you listen to her enuf -- you can take some concrete advise. And my point, more than anything, is that if you make your children the center of the universe -- as Kate seems to be doing -- that can't be good for the kids, esp when they become adults. If she worked harder on the marriage end, then that's just going to benefit the children and her. I mean, she goes on TV saying she wrote this new book of hers for "her children." Pulz! If you did it just for the kids, then do some scrap-book or something. She's putting a lot of weight -- financial, etc -- on these poor kids.

I've read they have nannies and a large bank account. The problem is taking care of these kids when the nannies aren't there. That're a lot of kids and they chose to have them. They seem to be going thru some growing pains right now. I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually divorced.

Kate is just disrespectully mean to him. Thet Asian men I know married to white women endure this. It's nothing but demasculinization because culturally they're passive men. I'm not being biased here at all. I'm very culturally competent.

Their marriage will be fine if she would treat him half as good as one of the kids.

Wow! I've seen this show a couple of times, and wasn't that interested but these comments...either there are some really jealous people out there or just a fair number of people who are naturally nasty. Why do people watch shows where they *hate* the people in those shows? Talk about hypocrisy? Sheesh! Turn the damn television off and make your own reality...and hopefully, it will be incredibly entertaining. Who knows? Maybe you'll get an offer...which of course, you'd turn down immediately. No doubt.

I like how no one seems to be able to discuss legitimate criticism of this family without being accused of 1.) jealousy or 2.) just being naturally nasty.

There are some real issues with this show, and the family has demonstrated some very real hypocrisy: their professed morals and values do not square with what they present to the world.

This is very worthy of criticism.
