Miss California KEEPS The Crown: Trump Compliments Her Beauty (VIDEO)

NEW YORK — Miss California USA can retain her crown even though she failed to reveal she had posed in her underwear as a teenager, pageant owner Donald Trump said Tuesday.

Carrie Prejean appeared by Trump's side as he made the announcement at New York's Trump Tower.

Trump also defended the answer that Prejean gave at last month's Miss USA pageant when she was asked her view of marriage by judge Perez Hilton, a celebrity blogger. She said she believes marriage is between a man and a woman.

"It's the same answer the president of the United States gave; it's the same answer many people gave," Trump said. "She gave an honorable answer; she gave an answer from her heart."

Trump said he and other pageant officials had reviewed racy photos of Prejean and decided they were acceptable.

"We are in the 21st century. We have determined the pictures taken are fine," he said, adding that "in some cases the pictures were lovely."

After Trump spoke, the 21-year-old Prejean, who was accompanied by her parents, took her turn at the lectern, defending herself against what she described as vicious attacks.

She talked about getting thousands of letters and e-mails from people supporting her and said, about the marriage question, that Hilton had asked her a "politically charged question with a hidden personal agenda."

"I stated my honest belief," she said.

Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, is best known as a celebrity blogger but has also branched off into gay rights advocacy.

To all of you who are saying that she has a right to her opinion and that she should not be called a bigot for having a different opinion, I suggest you try a little critical thinking or logic.

No one in their right mind would suggest that people do not have a right to their own opinion or that she is automatica­lly a bigot for having an differing opinion.

What is being said is "That Opinion" which holds that a certain group should not have equal treatment under the law is a bigoted opinion. (I.E. if she holds that opinion, she IS a bigot BY DEFINITION­.)

Yeah but in this case she was smarter then expected. Was opposites marriage a stupid statement or misspeak? I've heard Bush say dumber things and he is definitely not a beauty. Attack her intelligen­ce but do it point by point. Do not say she disagrees with me so therefore she is a dunce. Tell her how she should have argued her position opposing Gay Marriage in a more effective way. In other words play devils advocate and find the intelligen­t counter argument to pro Gay Marriage and then sir you can begin to call her a blond bomb.

for me the issues are not Ms California USA, response to a comment but her in ability to explain her position without causing pain to others.
I remember when Vanessa Williams had to give up her beauty crown because of pictures she took that showed her in the nude. I was disappoint­ed in the decision however the same was done by Ms California USA and she was given a pass because she was too beautiful to fail.
Integrity should be used in all business dealings. The issue was a failure to follow the directions of a contact and misleading the USA committee by stating she never took pictures that showed her in the nude or semi nude.
Ms California USA is a disappoint­ment not because of her anti gay marriage views by her lack of expressing integrity and ethics; she did show selfish behavior..­.it is far more important to set a perfect example for the young women to be... free speech comes with responsibi­lities toward the truth ; do not hide behind faith for it can be called cowardly behavior !

All this "outrage" at Queenies answer is wasted energy. Where was the outrage when Obama answered the question saying he believed marriage to be between a man and a woman?

This is just some beauty contestant­, yet the Prez says it and you all look the other way.

It's just silly that you'd rather take on a Beauty Queen and let Obama pull the wool over your eyes.

And like the comment way below, Obama stated he believes marriage is between a man and a woman but had no problem with civil unions.

To many civil unions is not enough, it still makes gay unions appear to be less than a man and woman couple and while it would give them legal rights if Obama were to ever allow civil unions, it still is not enough change.

So yeah, Obama and Queenie both agree that marriage is between a man and a woman. No ever asked if Queenie believes is civil unions.

Here's an idea. If people want to keep this archaic pageant, then it should be a true beauty pageant. Not allowed would be any artificial enhancemen­ts, botox, face lifts, teeth whitening, implants (of any kind), liposuctio­n, hair coloring, etc. etc. Let's go on natural beauty. Maybe that would finally kill it.

What's even more interestin­g is Carrie's crying and making it look like she lost the Miss USA pageant because of her answer.

Yet when Donald was on The View, they specifical­ly asked him, had she answered in favor of same sex marriage, would she have won Miss USA. He said; "NO!"
She had already scored lower than Miss NC before the question and answer part.
