Nbc Universal

Five years ago today, NBC Universal was formed as NBC acquired Vivendi Universal Entertainment. To celebrate the anniversary, the media giant has created a 30-second promotional video that will air tonight across all NBC Universal properties.

In the 8PM ET/PT hour tonight, the video will air on all of the channels of NBC Universal — which include NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, Telemundo, Bravo, USA, and SciFi (soon SyFy) — and their accompanying websites, as well as on NBC Universal's video billboard in New York's Times Square, at the Universal Studios theme parks in Orlando and Los Angeles, and in taxis in New York.

"Celebrating five years, channels that bring characters into your home, information that enlightens your world, networks of many voices, and media that unites us all, stories that take you inside, and worlds that take you away...many companies, many faces, we are NBC Universal," the spot declares.

According to the network, the above ad is the first in a series of promotions meant to increase awareness of the brand. The rest will be rolled out throughout the remainder of this year.

NBC Universal President/CEO Jeff Zucker also filmed a video in honor of the milestone:

This is almost laughable coming on the heels of Jeff Zucker's most recent comment.
From an entertainment blog tracking TV...

"NBC is throwing in the towel. The boss of bosses, NBC Universal CEO, the head honcho himself, Jeff Zucker, was at an industry event recently and declared, "I don't think we'll ever be able to say, 'NBC is number one in prime time.'"

But, hey, even with a defeatist attitude like that Zucker will now spend millions on an ad campaign congratulating themselves on a job well done. Meanwhile NBC's new chant will be: "We're in last place! We're in last place! YEAH!!!"

In response to the question, "Can you drive your ratings even lower?" NBC responds, "Yes we can!"

Is having a story about this non-event appear in HuffP0 part of the campaign strategy? I mean, who cares?
