Is it just us or are the animals really starting to revolt this year?

We've been fascinated by the surging number of animal escapes this year -- most in the last month -- so here are a few of our favorites!

5. Canadian Wolf-Dog Escapes Human Captor

A hybrid between a wolf and a regular dog has gone missing from Akseswane Territory in Ontario, Canada.

4. Karta The Orangutan Short-Circuits Electric Fence, Climbs Self-Built Ladder To Escape, Reconsiders

The ape, a 27-year-old female named Karta, jammed a stick into wires connected to the fence and then piled up debris to climb a concrete and glass wall at the Adelaide Zoo.

Zoo curator Peter Whitehead told reporters Karta sat on top of the fence for about 30 minutes before apparently changing her mind about the escape and climbing back into the enclosure.

3. Bull Escapes High School Event, Swims Across Delaware River Twice, Heads For Jersey

Spooked by heavy rain, the bull jumped a fence and stealthily eluded a search party for hours before it took to the Delaware River, swimming between Pennsylvania and New Jersey a couple of times.

2. Pigs Escape In Truck Crash En Route To Bacon Factory

More than 180 pigs escaped in a truck crash on the way to becoming bacon. The doors swung open and the pigs hit the ground running.

1. Molly The Cow Escapes Slaughterhouse, Reaches Animal Care Center, Moved To Animal Sanctuary

The spirited cow dodged cars, cops and a few irate butchers for a mile after escaping Wednesday from the Queens slaughterhouse. Police captured the heifer an hour later.

The New York Times reports that Molly was signed over to animal control services by the slaughterhouse's owner.

The photo of the white cow should be used on an anti-artificial insemination poster. Some say that artifical insemination is a form of animal abuse; it deprives the female animal of getting sex.

That does not beat Tatiana of Frisco who was able to escape her grotto and mauled 2 people, one who died, the second who was banging the doors of the zoo restaurant while the air head inside refused to open the door - and during that time the zoo was denying entry to fire and rescue while someone was dying. The cops finally got in, found the tiger mauling the guy near the restaurant and shot it.

Story #3: During the bull's visit to the PA side of the Delaware, it was spotted in predawn hours near the local WAWA on Cattell St. in Easton. Looking for a cup o' joe and some smokes, maybe?

Funny story but why is HuffP0 running stories that usually appear at the end of the year?

As a compassionate carnivore and aspiring Buddhist who still likes the occasional steak, I am happy to see some animals escape their “plate fates”.

Yesterday I was walking my dog when a small chubby beagle came charging down the street full speed ahead. The owner yelled at me to catch it but there was no way I could. This fellow was free at last and not stopping until he ran out of steam. I tried following him since the owner was stopped at a stop light but he was way too fast for me. Go dog go!

And they all will live happily ever after, especially if everyone would stop eating meat.

The grass is always greener on the other side. I remember. years ago, I was taking care of a friend's house w/kids & animals. Some one left the back gate open & the cows decided to go for a walk thru suburbia. What a time we had getting them back inside.
