ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis beauty salon owner accidentally happened upon one of the hottest Hollywood scripts _ the pages from an upcoming "Twilight" sequel _ in a trash bin.

Casey Ray found two scripts, one for the vampire sequel "New Moon" and one for a different movie titled "Memoirs." She decided to return them to the studio making the films. In return, she was invited to attend the movies' premieres, her lawyer said.

Ray recently was waiting for her fiance to finish work when she spotted two scripts in a trash container. She was outside a hotel where actors were staying during a St. Louis shoot for the upcoming George Clooney movie, "Up in the Air."

It's not clear how the scripts wound up in the bin.

The Clooney movie includes actress Anna Kendrick, who is also in the "Twilight" vampire movie. A spokeswoman for Kendrick, Lisa Perkins, said the actress wouldn't have left scripts lying around.

When Ray found the scripts, she considered leaking them to a national tabloid but decided against it, said her lawyer, Al Watkins.

"My client didn't really want to get paid," he said, but she was interested in hanging onto the scripts as collector's items.

Watkins helped her return them to Los Angeles-based Summit Entertainment LLC, the studio making the movies. He said the studio invited Ray to premieres for the two films, and will certify the scripts as authentic after the movies are released.

"Summit doesn't comment on any of the deals it does," Summit spokesman Paul Pflug said. But he added, "We thank Ms. Ray for doing the right thing."

The "Twilight" movies are based on the novels of Stephenie Meyer, so many of the plot turns are well known to readers. But keeping the "New Moon" script written by Melissa Rosenberg out of the public eye preserves which elements of the book will be included in the films, Pflug noted.

Last year's original "Twilight" film grossed over $350 million worldwide.

Oh the irony.

The interesting part of the story is why Anna Kendrick was so careless with them. She was either super pissed at Summit for something or just really stupid. And I highly doubt she was that stupid. It's a weird story. Additionally weird because the only person known to be associated with both films is Robert Pattinson.

I'm just wondering: Do the scripts derive directly from the books or are the grammar and syntax adjusted to standard English?

Although Meyer's writing lacks beautiful language and the characters are simplistically drawn, 12 to 14 year old girls are simply wild about this story. Reluctant readers have started book clubs and are just devouring this vampire saga. In my "book," anything that causes middle school girls to turn off their electronic gadgets and settle in for a long read is a good thing.

We all had our trashy novels way back when, no?

I'm 46 and I loved them! The movie however dosen't do the book justice. Even though I find that true in most cases. Twilight the movie doesn't even scratch the surface of the book.

There is nothing to scratch in these books, nothing happens. The characters don't grow, the plot is twisted and turn to fit the fantasy of the author and I won't even get started on the pedophilia that the books promotes.

The moral of these books are that you don't have to do anything to make your life happy other then marry a man and get married. What the heck kind of message is that to send to a 13 year old girl.

I think there is a huge difference between trash novels and novels that go out of their way to spread propaganda for a religion. these books aren't merely Mary Sues they are written from a POV that is very steeped in Mormon dogma.

I also think that the message these books give young women about giving your whole life to a man and forgetting about your future and well being to be with a man and then saying who cares about college lets get married and have babies, is irresponsible and have no place in the world in 2009.

You really need some help. Do you overthink everything? Some times it's just a trashy romance novel. The kids reading these books aren't that deep. Or is that your point.... that they are being brain washed.

My 17 year old read the books. Halfway through the 3rd book, she flung it across the room in disgust. She said all of the female characters were weak and completely dependent on the male characters to make them whole. She couldn't believe the heroine only cared about having a baby and being married and not about getting an education.

I think it's sad that these books are so popular. Young girls need to be encouraged to get an education and a career so they can fend for themselves. Not to marry and reproduce by age 18.

On the other side, books like this one might help people realise their true priorities in life. If you daughter realised that the books was crap, it's a good thing.
Sometimes we need to read something that oppose our ideals and goals to make them more clear.

The trash would be a good place for the Twilight novels to be placed.

I mean, let's face it, they are little more than Mary Sue stories.

The unrealistically beautiful and perfect male character and the unrealistically sweet and perfect female character.

Stephanie Meyer spends 90% of her stories merely describing what the characters look like at any given moment.

Then... why the characters of the movie are so little "unrealistaclly beautiful"?
They are "pretty much realistically average"...

Too bad Miss Ray didn't leave them there. Twilight doesn't hold a candle to the HBO series True Blood. I prefer Bill Compton (Moyer) to Edward's vampire any day or night of the week.

Even though that's one case where the show is better than the books... Charlaine Harris is a decent writer, but an unreliable 1st person POV narration of the Southern Vampire series (True Blood is based on them) makes them less than their television counterpart.

I would've waited another 4 months then sold it to the highest bidder. It's not a moral issue. It was thrown in the public trash so it's public property.
