Colbert's Advice To The GOP: Make Superficial Changes To Your Image Without Altering Anything Inside (VIDEO)

In the last election the GOP lost seven governorships, both houses of Congress and the White House. It's pretty clear they need to take a hard look at their core values and leadership, right? WRONG. "The GOP needs to make painful, soul-searching, superficial changes to their image without altering anything inside," according to Stephen Colbert. Something tells us Michael "Off The Hook" Steele would agree.

Last night, Colbert gave the GOP a plethora of valuable advice on strategies that are sure to win over the American public like changing their name to Twitter, or making their logo the cockroach instead of the elephant. Frankly, none of these suggestions sound any more ludicrous than letting Joe the Plumber speak for you.

Note: this segment comes with a cute little dance.

With Jon Stewart and Colbert, it's almost too funny and unfair against the GOP.

Emmy time! I laughed so hard at this segment that I had a tough time sleeping later on. I kept waking up laughing. More than worth the price.

I agree with Colbert on a serious level. Lets retain some party distinction, shall we? What fun is it if the republican party turns into "democrat lite"? I don't ever recall republicans ranting about how democrats need to be more "right" when they were in power.

Let's keep the party vs. party strife going as long as possible, it's some of the best entertainment out there.

There's a difference between advising a party to become a bit more open to moderate politics and advising them to make a dramatic shift to the right or left. Right now the Republican Party is criticizing moderates like Schawarzenegger and Charlie Crist and placing Rush Limbaugh and Dick Cheney on a pedestal. How can you say that's a good sign?

It's a good sign if you're a Democrat.
Let the Repub party chase out their moderates. Let the Christo-Fascists cleanse the ranks. Let them shrink it down to the small, squalling babies they are, the folks stinking up the Republican party, ie ignorant Wingnuts and their ignorant control-freak religious base. Let them become half of what they once were in numbers.

The fear, I suppose, is if their moderates join the left, would it further stretch the Dems to the right?

"I don't ever recall republicans ranting about how democrats need to be more "right" when they were in power."

Aside from almost every day at every turn, I don't really recall that, either.

The only paths to salvation for a Dem under Repub rule as I recall were to "regain their sanity" by espousing republican policies and talking points so as to "connect with the people," or to leave the country "if they didn't like it."

BTW - try Ginko Biloba. I understand it does wonders for memory.

Making the Republican mascot a cock-roach would be fitting, and appropriate!

Republicans = cock-roach!
