The FBI is investigating allegations that former Senator Norm Coleman had clothing and other items purchased on his behalf by a longtime friend and businessman Nasser Kazeminy, according to a source in Minnesota who was interviewed recently by federal agents.

E.K. Wilson, a spokesman for the Minneapolis FBI, would neither confirm nor deny the report. The source provided details of the interview to the Huffington Post, in addition to copies of business cards left by the agents.

The FBI has also been conducting interviews in Texas, according to media reports, in regards to different allegations that Kazeminy tried to steer $75,000 to Coleman through his wife's employer. Up to this point, there have not been reports of any FBI work taking place in Coleman's home state.

The Minnesota source said the FBI questioning focused on whether Kazeminy had purchased clothing on Coleman's behalf, reports of which surfaced in October. At the time, Coleman vehemently denied the allegations. "Nobody but me and my wife buy my suits," he said.

The source, who requested to speak anonymously to discuss the matter more frankly, said that payments made to the company that employed the former senator's wife, Laurie Coleman, were also addressed.

In April, Norm Coleman requested permission from the Federal Election Commission to use his remaining Senate campaign funds to pay legal fees resulting from the lawsuit filed against Kazeminy.

A request for comment from Coleman's office went unreturned. The receptionist, upon hearing the topic of inquiry, called the matter "old news." In the past, both Coleman, who is engaged in the final stages of a lengthy election recount battle, and Kazeminy, a longtime benefactor of the Minnesota Republican, have denied any wrongdoing.

The possibility exists that the sole target of the FBI's work is Kazeminy and not Coleman. The prominent businessman stands accused of fraud for his handling of the company Deep Marine Technology. As part of that suit, former Deep Marine CEO Paul McKim alleged that he was forced to overlook $75,000 in payments to Hays Company, the employer of Coleman's wife.

Separately, it has been reported that Kazeminy made purchases on behalf of Coleman himself. Ken Silverstein of Harper's magazine was the first to report that suits had been bought on the then-Senator's behalf. A the time, Coleman's chief of staff would only rebut the charge by saying that he "has reported every gift he has ever received."

When are the voters in Minn going to look to the Governor and whomever else who is needed to certify the election and seat Al? This is really embarrassing to Minn and our country.

Jeff.

Because AL didn't win. Yes, he has more Democrat votes than voters who are registered in that state but that hasn't won it for him yet. ACORN is slipping if they can't manufacture extra votes for AL and get away with it...losing their touch. HA ACORN...always ready to print votes for the lib candidate. Maybe the billions Obama is handing to ACORN will help them refine their fraud.

Show me evidence that Franken has more votes than registered voters, prognosticator. Don't blame ACORN for registering voters; blame Rove & Co. for electronic voter fraud, which is a reality and will come out, even if he kills more of his former staff.

The receptionist is right. This IS old news. Are there new developments or is HuffPo just trying to divert attention away from the sudden and mysterious death of the Gitmo detainee (since transferred in secret to a Libyan prison) who gave false statements under torture at Gitmo that Bush & Co used to justify invading Iraq?

Think about it, they waited till after the election to arrest Levi Johnstons mother in Alaska.

The FBI is probably waiting for the courts to decide the election and certify it, then they will arrest coleman.

It sounds like Justice deferred but I Can understand why law enforcement doesn't want to be the one to be blamed for Coleman conceding (although he could still contest the election under indictment)

Norm won that election in that all his votes came from registered voters...ahhhh Al has more votes than were "found" by ACORN workers AFTER the election. Those inner city drunks and dopers really came through for Franken....many times over. Now they are demanding yet ANOTHER payoff since the Sec. of State of Minn., a former ACORN community organizer like Obama can't even deliver a good, well thought out fraudulent win for AL. Crime hasn't paid there ...yet.

You have stated this delusion 3 times now - just because Al Franken got votes does not make them not from registered voters or fradulant. I would never say that the people who voted for Norm Coleman were not real voters or were fraudulant. WHERE IS YOUR PROOOF?

If you have information on this then you need to bring it to the elections commission in Minnesota. If you have real facts, then it is your duty as a Minnesotan (if you live there) and as an American to place those facts in evidence.

If all you have is suppositions and innuendo then by all means you are allowed to state it; but once is enough and two times is plenty - three times is overkill and people just dismiss you as a nut.

So put up your evidence or please just go to some other forum and post this nonsense.

The "ballots found in the trunk of a car" story is a lie:

"But as MinnPost’s David Brauer reported yesterday: the story of the 32 absentee ballots is flat wrong. He called up Minneapolis election director Cindy Reichert to get the facts. She (Pawlenty during two Fox appearances in as many days called her “he”) attests the car-ballot story is “just not true”: She never had the ballots in her car — nor were they in anyone’s car for several days — and they were kept in secure facilities between election day and vote counting. It was Coleman’s attorney, Fritz Knaak, who told reporters, “We were actually told ballots had been riding around in her car for several days, which raised all kinds of integrity questions.” From there, the Wall Street Journal picked up on it and reported it as fact; similar to Hannity’s on-screen graphic (shown above), the error appeared in a story headlined “Mischief in Minnesota?”

But according to Brauer, Hannity is wrong on another count: “every one of” those 32 ballots did not go to Franken. Franken won half, 18 16, seven were cast for Coleman, and the remainder went to other candidates."--from the Minnesota Independent. You can read the full story here: http://minnesotaindependent.com/17385/recount-hannity-pawlenty-car-ballot-lie

A lie that keeps getting bigger and sillier, apparently. Now we're to believe ACORN found the evil ballots.

ACORN doesn't work the polls. They just register voters.

+1 I still love that he had said before the results started coming in that he'd concede if it were close and he was behind.. For the good of the country... Ugh.. I do feel bad for him if he really does want to stop this nonsense and his handlers want to keep it going as long as possible.. Otherwise, please go away Norm Coleman :/

Govenor Pawlenty is backing a man under investigation by the FBI as Senator of Minnesota over the man who really won the election. And he is holding up that election through the power of his office. Maybe the FBI investigation will show an unhealthy connection to the Govenor?!! I would love it if Pawlenty got implicated in Norm's troubles.
Plus if Norm becomes Senator again he can make some of the investigations go into a black hole.

HANG ON, HANG ON, Coleman, Cheney & family and all Republicans, even if by a thread. Appears they're hanging on in the midst of their last death throes. Just goe away and you won't be missed any more than even one tiny grain of sand. We have serious business of saving this country and the people in spite of Republicans and their "ditto head," brain deprived supporters.
