Oh, stupid news ! I love Stupid News.
Netanyahu is the product of a three way split election process and needed to cobble together a coalition of people who would vote with him the Knesset to make him leader of the country. More than half the people of the country did not like him or his policies enough to vote for him.
So now it is a headline that people aren't in favor of his policies. !!!!!????
News for the terminally uninformed.
Not everybody is aware of the Israeli electoral system, and its possible for a leader to gain poularity after an election.
Though not Netanyahu it seems.
What the Israelis are mad about -as the body of the story says-are tax hikes and spending cuts! Most Americans would be,too! As Arabs make up 20% of the Israeli population, Netanyahu must win over a large percentage of Jewish Israelis ...just to come out at 50 %!!! And he has!!
“Sharon gave and gave and gave, the Palestinians got and got and got, and my question is, what did we get? Nothing and nothing and nothing,” Benjamin Netanyahu
Maybe the 26 percent of people that have no opinion should start paying closer attention!
Yes---Israel got MORE terrorism!
26% no opinion on Netanyahu. That's kind of surprising, considering how close they live to the edge.
NETANYAHU CAN PLAY A HISTORICAL ROLE IF HE AGREES TO RESTORE WEST BANK AFTER PALESTINIANS ARE HELPED TO REACH ECONOMIC PARITY OR VIABILITY, AND BOTH PARTIES AGREE OR THE MESSIAH RETURNS.
This helps everybody, in addition, he can insist on condition that treaty take up Iran on their fatwa to not develop nuclear weapons. Solution that is congenial to all interests is there if they will think all the serious interests through. Israel's threat to start war with Iran is both ludicrous and ingenious: countries who believe that they might be about to go to war with each other should not be expected to be ready to sit down to a friendly permanent treaty on short notice; it also brings Iran in as a party to whatever peace treaty will be made between Israel and Palestinians. Religious considerations are essential and they need to be brought in. Eventually many, maybe all, Middle East countries will have religiously democratic governments and this is an additional, maybe essential, step.
Tell the billionaire oil sheiks to give their Arab brothers some more help!!! Why should the Israelis give their mortal enemies a penny???
What do the Israelis do with the billions of dollars given to them annually by the USA?
here comes the next BiBi Big Miscalculation.
Uh..they left Gaza on their own accord...a
you guys should've voted for Livni. I see Bibi as a thorn in the side of the administration and a hinderrance to the two- state peace process.
They did vote for Livni. Netanyahu was part of a coalition formed with Avigdor Liebermann. Livni would have been much better.
Maybe if he hadn't skipped out on his MIT education, he could have learned to be a more effective leader. My old advisor says he is still waiting tor Bin to explain where he has been all these years, and how is his thesis coming along?
If I recall the election results, Likud got 21.6% of the votes. Kadima had a landslide with 22.5%.
50% approval wouldn't seem so bad.
and you belong to which country?
The only reason Netanyahu holds his position is because people remember his brother.
No
"some 48 percent of people questioned said they were "unhappy with his conduct" of government business while 26 percent had a positive opinion and 26 percent had no view
He may not be perfect, but at least the people aren't being beheaded for disapproving of him, as happens when you insult Allah, I mean disapprove of a leader in its neighboring countries.
Millions of people living for decades under the Israeli occupation, which Netanyahu proposes to continue and intensify, and a VAT tax is what gets the Israeli people upset. Unreal.
FYI before Israel occupied that land, Gaza was occupied by Egyptians and Jordan occupied the W Bank ... I guess you weren't aware of that because "that occupation" no one cared about.
Wonder why?
Were the Egyptians demolishing Palestinian homes with bulldozers, cutting off water, and dropping cluster bombs all over civilians? Were the Egyptians denying medical treatment to children and pregnant mothers? Did the Egyptians have nuclear weapons? Were their armed forces filled with trigger-happy teenagers?
Maybe thats why you dont hear about it so much.
They're mad about tax increases and spending cuts-NOT his stand against the Arabs! Also 50% favor him!! -He's doing a better job than the neocons in America! The headline is correct-but misleading by not saying what the Israeli people are mad about! Remember..
Really, to Israeli's, they don't obsess over this as much as you people do. They live life's as well, they have an economy, houses, children and jobs. They aren't solely defined by the Israeli Arab conflict, and it's best you don't always view them that way.
