ABC News:

The president likes to take issue with the media here and there.

"I just want to make a little commentary about the media here, if you don't mind," Mr. Obama said this afternoon in Rio Rancho, NM, at a town hall meeting on credit card reform.

The media? The media has absolutely no standards whatsoever. All these people do is try to come off as 'gotcha' and turn the news around to their own biases ,with follow up deadbeat republican guests.
Such a sad state of affairs, but most of these guys and gals are irresponsible, getting away with mediocrity, as well as foisting their paranoia on John Public. Sorry, but so many have lost credibility that I just smirk at the spin and sensational headlines which normally have nothing much to do with the news.
N.B Always remember John Public that it was mostly the media that took us to the war in Iraq!

Jake Trapper is one of the most egotistical people in this country! He thinks his take on anything is right and he's a boor when it comes to asking Gibbs questions.
I generally channel switch when he in on camera.

Your man Obama:
"When Congress included in last year's budget a whole bunch of earmarks, you remember there was a week worth of stories about how terrible these earmarks were. You remember this...a week's worth of stories: 'Oh, these earmarks, this is what's blowing up the deficit, this is terrible,' blah, blah, blah.
And yet, as I said before, that was less than 1 percent of that entire budget that had been signed. When we find $17 billion worth of cuts in programs, what do the same folks say? They say, 'Oh, that's nothing.'...That's not significant. That's not important.'
Well, you can't have it both ways. If those earmarks were important, then this money is important, too."
First, he didn't cut that $17 billion, but rather reallocated it to other programs. Plus, a story on Moneynews titled "Add Another $89 Billion to Budget Deficit" explains that any cut was dwarfed by this addition. Might as well say he just added $71 billion.

First off, I'm tired of hearing that the "media is lazy" and that "they were silent the last 8 years." Now why is that? They are still not asking Cheney the tough questions. There is a reason for that.

The answer: they are corporate owned and, hence do better under administrations were their interest are represented. What administrations do tax cuts for the rich, merged corporations (aka media monopolies) appear under?

I have not heard many of these so-called journalist actually put up the Republican track records in their face and ask them, "What credibility do you have on these subjects of foreign policy, fiscal responsibility, etc.?"

I'm glad Obama is targeting them b/c maybe "change" means them too. Hopefully Obama will repeal the Telecom Act of 1996 and start breaking up the "too big to fail" media empires too.

One can only hope.

The media here in New Mexico does kind of suck, but there really isn't much going on most of the time to get hot about here. But he has to take that into consideration when he critiques the media here. Oh...wait, you meant to say that he is doing a critique of the media while in New Mexico. See? , that's how bad our media is, I didn't even know he was coming here.

He was talking to the national media that accompanies him wherever he goes, not the NM media. He specifically mentioned Chip..... Chip Beck is the ABC white house correspondent.

Where is the SINGLE-PAYER Health Care that Pelosi and Baucus took off the table?

Where is the fact OIL prices are being Manipulated again?

Where is the Green Energy Reform?

Where is Kurgman since he talked to Obama - DISAPPEARED?

Where is Taking Money away from the Wall Street Banks instead of PUMPING IT INTO THEM?

Where is "Bottom-Up" Help for Middle-Class that Obama Promised?

Reading most of the blog posts on Tapper's page is almost as bad as Politico posts. Gotta go take a large martini after seeing a few of those.

Oh, and I thought this is what he said

""The long-term deficit and debt that we have accumulated is unsustainable. We can't keep on just borrowing from China or borrowing from other countries," Obama told a town hall meeting event in New Mexico.

"We have to pay interest on that debt and that means that we're mortgaging our children's future with more and more debt," he said.

Obama bipolarity.....

Gee, never heard Bush, Cheney or any neocons in Congress express concerns about that prior to crashing the economy and Obama taking office....

That's why I like the town meetings.

He get around the press and say what he thinks.

Then they have to cover it.

Dear J a k e T a p p er:
As much as Sar ah Pa lin gripes about the evil Media, why do you never have anything negative to say about her?

President Obama is correct that the MSM focuses on petty non-stories (such as dijon mustard) instead of focusing on serious matters, such as this story:

"An estimated 100 detainees have di ed during interrogations, some who were clearly tor tured to de ath. The B ush Justice Department failed to investigate and prosecute alleged mur ders even when the CIA inspector general referred a case."

"The bottom line is that many detainee hom icides in Iraq and Afghanistan were the direct result of approval and orders from the highest levels of government, and that high officials in the government are accomplices."

To call Jake Tapper an empty-headed dolt would be an insult to empty-headed dolts everywhere. He reminds me of William Hurt's character in "Broadcast News", but without the charm.
