Countdown's WTF Moment: Texas Secession (VIDEO)

In tonight's installment of Countdown's "WTF Moment," Olbermann takes a realistic look at what would happen if Texas actually followed through on Governor Rick Perry's threat to secede if the federal government doesn't leave Texas alone. Well, between skyrocketing taxes, loss of military protection, sports teams crumbling, massive debt burdens, and the coming political crisis in 2020 (when the projected population of Texas will be 45 percent Hispanic and 38 percent Anglo, and the Hispanics win a ballot initiative to have the new republic join Mexico), the picture doesn't look good.

THere was some peculiar agreement when Texas was being lured into the United States that "allowed" Texas to secede under certain circumstances. Yea, like that's ever going to considered legal.

Olbermann just doesn't understand economics! After all, Reagan proved that if you cut taxes, revenue goes up. So Texas will just cut taxes to zero, which (under the rules of supply-side Reaganomics and Grammonomics) should yield infinite, unlimited revenue. Texas will do just fine.

every agency , except the PO, is duplicated at the state level. No mention of the the amount of money taken from the state in Taxes on persons and business. Ever heard of the National Guard? They are state funded and controlled by the Governor. Texas would probably prosper as an independent country. A majority of the countries oil and gas products come through TX, including a large number of gasoline refineries. Kieth should go back to his Ag school and take a govt course along with an econ course and see how easy it would be for TX to thrive as a country...
