At the end of April, White House photographer Pete Souza released a huge slideshow featuring 300 of the best behind-the-scenes photos of Obama's young presidency. Now Souza has added over a hundred new pictures. Included in the set are shots of the president doing everything from meeting with Al Sharpton and Newt Gingrich to playing with his dog.

A really thoughtful group of pictures. You can get a sense of the pomp as well as the drudgery. The pictures really are a behind the scenes view, a very honored and almost familial point of view. I think the president made a good choice having this photographer in this job. The photographs are at times experimental and more artistic and other times competent event documentation. From one photographer to another, kudos to Pete Souza for being up to the monumental task and doing the job.

The best thing about Obama is that even with unimaginable concerns in his mind, he seems to be enjoying and loving every moment of his job, the white house seems so much more lively now then the dark hole it was in the last 8 years, thank god for a competent president, for the first time i feel like i can trust a president, who will do the right thing, theres a long way to go but its a good start.

Maybe it's because I'm a law student, but every time I see the photo of President Obama and Chief Justice Roberts it makes me realize that something seismic has truly happened in our little corner of the world.

Each time I see him, I love him more. So uber-cool, uber-intelligent and uber-charismatic. Finally we have a peacemaker instead of a war monger as our leader. " Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God".

I can't imagine having as many concerns on my mind as Barack Obama has. Sometimes a person just needs to get away from it, for a bit, to clear his head. (And I don't mean 6 months at a ranch.) Obama seems human to me, in the best sense.

First -- explain to me why this guy shouldn't have Grey Poupon on tap.
Second -- Emanuel is where he should be. Geithner looks like Peter Pettigrew.
Third -- how many shots of crossed legs are really necessary?
Forth -- crimson empire vs. blue standard furniture -- welcome, empire!
Fifth -- please keep him away from windows and crowds.
Last -- a president with a pulse -- we can breath now.

Obama's schedule is beginning to mimic Clinton's...loafing and goofing off. This lax work ethic is his MO...never liked the job of legislating...seldom present to vote....and we are seeing that here.

Clinton golfed daily during the summer months and sneaked out for other sports in the winter...what did he say? "I just love being president." Yeah we know you had your eyes on every extra curicular activity but the security of the country.

goofing off?

your lens is foggy brandalucia, but for humor's sake, let's say that if Clinton was goofing off, how in the hell did he pull out out of the Reagan second term and Bush Sr. / Quayle economic down fall and leave us with such high employment rates and a BIG surplus?

If that's the result of "goofing" off by an evolved democratic party, I can't wait to see what President Obama who is burning the midnight oil to get us out of Bush Jr / Cheney's deeeeep well to China.

Right! I'd love some Clinton style "goofing" off. I made 20K more per year in the 1990's. The great President Bush really helped my family lose income, lose my job...

You are right on the money my friend!! What Obama needs to do now is go on Vacation for about 3 weeks, then go on vacation again next month for about 2 weeks. I mean that is the kind of work ethic that made George Walker Bush the greatest president in history, didnt it? Golfing daily in the summer isnt going to cut it. You need to be 2000 miles away from DC at your fake ranch clearing brush to do a bang up job. If Obama wants to be a good president, he needs to learn from King Goerge the Magnificent.

You are SO right, Oberon.
White House logs show that bush43 was 'on vacation' (meaning not working) for more than one third of his time in office. In fact, he was at his fake ranch 'clearing brush' for more than six months out of 2001. I would just take a guess and say that the 9/11 attacks put an end to his plans for even more vacations.

Work ethic? I think Bush was having some kind of nervous breakdown because he couldn't handle his job, so Cheney took over the entire running of the Iraq war. The only thing Bush did was to announce the Bush Doctrine in a speech. It was Cheney (he admitted) who got the morning briefing from the intelligence people, and he figured out what was important, then briefed bush43 about what he thought was important.

This has all been proved - I didn't make any of this up.

That was soooooooo enjoyable. I am proud Our President and the relaxed way in which
his cabinet enjoys his easy going nature and the fun they seem to be having.

It is a testiment of the Man in office and the peaceful nature he brings with him that causes
others to relax and enjoy his company.

The Haters don't know what they are missing and thats a real shame.

A few random thoughts over the first batch of photos:

1) What a joy to have a left-handed President!
2) The President really is engaged and doesn't seem to be gracing the meetings with his presence.
3) Does Michelle Obama EVER not look good?
4) Wow, what a gorgeous house!
5) It is just me or does Geitner look like he's getting scolded or berated ?

What a mean-spirited comment. How much bravery does it take to write something so catty about our First Lady?

Michelle is a vibrant, smart First Lady. We should be proud of her values and her willingness to speak out and engage on the importance of education and family. Did you hear her commencement speech in California to graduates who are the first to attend university in their respective families? She went because they sent her 400 valentines and a video asking her to come. Listen to Michelle's speech and be prepared to be inspired...or go to your room until you get over your bigotry. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/05/16/michelle-obama-commenceme_n_204302.html
