The Washington Post:

Oh how the world turns. While his prosecutors are now under investigation for misconduct, the curmudgeonly ex-senator Ted Stevens is back on the Washington party circuit - vindicated, shrimp cocktail style.

The famed former senator from Alaska, who narrowly lost reelection in November after he was convicted on corruption charges, showed up at a fancy book party Thursday night for Philadelphia radio talk show host Michael Smerconish.

It must be ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL to be a politician. They seem to get all of the benefits.... INCLUDING benefits of the doubts, even when there is no doubt that they are guilty as sin.

Politicians get to commit horrendous, heinous crimes (war crimes, crimes of he country, lie, steal, cheat, have countless mistresses, rentahoes, etc) and STILL don't do no time for the crimes..... and what's worse, they get "tell all" book deals. They have the best medical benefits, access to ALL the money they need, they get to take bribes and mislead policies, just a whole host of crimes, and STILL, THEY RISE, and walk free. They must be absolutely "giggly" because of the irony. They get to make the law, rules and regulations, and they get to break the rules and regulations.

Go figure. Only in America. No wonder this country is so screwed up. Ted Stevens old dude, you pulled off MANY of the crimes of the century, for which you shuld be sitting in prison, but instead, you're walking free, and "writing a book". Isn't that just darling. And how proud you must be of you protege... the unbelievably crooked and stupid Sarah Palin, whom you taught well.

Speak for yourself. Most of the Alaskans I know care deeply about policy here and do their damndest to vote their conscience, but with Palin they were misled.

If most of the people you know don't know irony, then you're hanging with the wrong crowd.

I didn't vote for Palin, and I'm a registered Republican. In fact, I voted for all Democrats except for Stevens - who I believed was being prosecuted strangely, (and made me question the integrity of our justice system).

Stevens did not profit a dime or take in a penny of cash, he paid out $160,000 to upgrade a cabin but supposedly his votes were being purchased. Name one vote where Stevens sold out Alaska.

Alaska is full of attractive housewives with great public speaking skills, thankfully most lack the ego that made Sarah think everyone loved her for her policy positions, (she won because of the dick-vote).

A woman who truly believes her good looks had nothing to do with her popularity (or election) doesn't get it, and if she doesn't get that - she can't have the capacity to understand much else.

Ah, representing Alaska. Back in Washington, among his real buddies, I see. Good riddance.

Just a thought here:

Having one's prosecutors investigated for prosecutorial misconduct might just mean you were innocent all along.

Having one's own bigoted political party kicked out of office then having the oppositions BLACK CANDIDATE take office and drop all charges against you might just mean you are happy that Arlen Specter switched sides.

Just sayin!

Alaskans love nothing more than pure unadulterated irony, which is exactly how Palin got elected here.

palin got elected because we're rather shallow- more concerned with form over substance. Reading the DNM and ADN suggests we remain largely the same even in the face of facts. Most folks I know here couldn't define irony.

Mr. Strongman of the North is still soooo guilty. No amount of Hulk ties can change that, even if the prosecutors did bungle the case.

Stevens appears to thrive in a cesspool. Thank goodness he's no longer in the Senate.
