Save time and money. Swear him and use the money to short-gap the budget cuts.

It's his money, so what do I care if he uses it on re-election?

I do care about a president who spends hundreds of billions of our tax dollars to protect union contracts to buy a second term.

You don't seem to care that this demi-god plutocrat usurped the will of the people in regards to term limits. I guess in your world the rich can do what ever they like. “The public be damned"!!!

Bloomberg didn't change the law with a wave of his hand.

NY-ers only have to tolerate three terms. Try having the same mayor for more than 20 years like the Chicagoans.

Bloomberg dldn't get where he is by shelling out more than he can get back. Makes me wonder how much he is raking in from his investment.

Last time I checked, this wasn't an oligarchy - theoretically.

While writing some long forgotten college paper, I ran across a piece of information that stuck with me that went something like 'all great systems of governance tend to collapse by an excess of the very principles that made them great.' Hmmmmm...

So it looks like the alpha fat cats have, over time, quietly taken over the vital instruments of power in this country. They are now able to buy anything they want including the lawmakers who have systematically eliminated regulations inconvenient to their purposes (renegade financial institutions) and the law-enforcers who might block the implementation of their programs (highly placed crooked lawyers like Gonzo and Bybee).

This is just another example of the incredibly brazen practice of buying political power by throwing bucks at the electorate. It's now almost impossible to get elected to high public office in this country without a considerable personal fortune and/or the backing of people with such wealth.

Is it any wonder that, after they take office, our elected officials then reveal themselves to be surreptitious champions of the pay-to-play system that got them elected?

I fear we may be lost in the wilderness with no moral compass home.

Bloomberg isn't buying the election, he's selling it.

In case you did not know, or see it earlier... We snooped out the Republican 2010 campaign platform.

On December 1, 2005, Yoo appeared in a debate in Chicago with University of Notre Dame professor Doug Cassel. During the debate Cassel asked Yoo, "If the president deems that he's got to torture somebody, including by crushing the testicles of the person's child, there is no law that can stop him?", to which Yoo replied "No treaty." Cassel followed up with "Also no law by Congress -- that is what you wrote in the August 2002 memo...", to which Yoo replied "I think it depends on why the President thinks he needs to do that."

But, um, obsessing on child testicles is a prerequisite for tenure at Notre Dame is it not?

In New York City everything is for sale and Bloomberg is the highest bidder for mayor. It's an ugly reality and why I am very glad I live on the other end of the state. The fact Bloomberg is allowed to do this shows me New York City still does not get it that the excesses of the last 25 years are rotting America from the inside out.

Exactly. And bloomberg also manipulates the interpretation of statistics to show himself in the best light. I guess all politicians do, but Bloomberg is so glib and dictatorial. I wish he would lose the election, I just want him to go away already. but he will win because the city has grown passive.

Off topic:

I'm currently in the same Yahoo chat room I was in yesterday, and the same former Obama supporter I spoke about yesterday is back in it.

She is still saying that after four months, Obama has been a disappointment because he l ie d about military tribunals, lobbyists in his administration, and says that if he keeps it up, that he won't be re elected in four years and that we might end up with HILLARY as our nominee...

and this is a former Obama supporter who caucused and voted for Obama, watches Keith and Rachel and pretty much takes them both at face value, and continues to be stubborn despite me telling her that Obama has only been President four months and hasn't had enough time to truly implement change... I had to ignore her because she just can NOT be reasoned with...

R adicals on BOTH sides make me S I C K to my stomach!

She has a few years to think about it. There are issues I dissagree with him as well... He could be more central... The country is still way, way, way too far to the right.

But I also understand things like hiring insiders that know the business, even if they have "connections" - They all have connections, and the way the system is set up... You can't find a heavyweight who has _NOT_ lobbied.

I will not vote for Bloomberg. He and the self-serving City Council ignored New Yorkers who twice voted to impose term limits on them.

Just a page from the Bush-Cheney Rule of Law Handbook, I guess!
