Bloomberg Has Spent Staggering $18.7 Million On Re-Election Campaign So Far

Mayor Bloomberg's campaign team says he isn't trying to buy the election - but new records show he has put an $18.7million down payment on a bid to acquire a third term.

The self-made billionaire has poured $15.6 million into his campaign in the past two months, spending millions on advertising, printing, consultants, dozens of staffers, rent and office supplies.

Another bored rich guy who thinks he is the only one all the answers. We (residents of NYC) voted in term limits for a reason-- it is pro-democracy. Bloomberg and the power hungry members of the city council didn't like the law so they voted it out without going to the electorate effectively over turning the will of the people. A real political coup.
Bloomberg started out as a Democrat, then in order to get on the ballot became a Republican, and now is an Independent. Sound familiar? The only thing the guy stands for is his own self-agrandizement.

I haven't audited Obama's books, but it's a lot harder to raise money from the community than to just use your own money. This is because the federal campaign laws limit the amount of money individuals and corporations can send you (it's a really low number too....like $1,500.00). So based on that, I'm assuming Obama didn't get all of his money from a small number of people -- if he did, laws were broken.

At the same time, there are ways to get around those campaign finance laws if someone is really crafty...but it's risky, and could be a political disaster.
