WASHINGTON (AP) -- It's a busy Saturday for Barack Obama. First he named a new ambassador to China and then he switched from being president to being a soccer dad.

Obama traded a business suit for jeans and a Chicago White Sox jacket before shuttling around Washington to see daughters Malia and Sasha play in separate soccer games.

Obama cheered and clapped along the sidelines at 7-year-old Sasha's game with two Chicago friends. At one point, after Sasha's team scored, the president excitedly shouted "go ... go ... go ... goal."

Obama then moved on to 10-year-old daughter Malia's soccer match.

Earlier Saturday morning, Obama introduced Utah's Republican Gov. Jon Huntsman as his choice for U.S. ambassador to China.

Dear God! Can we please give the leader of the free world a pass from having to do soccer dad duty! What next? Will he be selling Girl Scout Cookies on the Mall or picking up the First Doggie's Doodies? Don't we have a few laid off CEOs who can do this instead? Your country needs you, Mr President!

Our nation could not have a better leader during this time of crisis. upporting his daughters' activities does not in any way lessen his ability to lead. Do us all a favor, please, and give it a rest.

Look! In his first weeks in office he has already started more projects, and accomplished more, than Shrub did in 8 years. Did you complain about Shrub's 900 days vacation???

Read "The Vacation President": http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/blog/2008/03/04/BL2008030401392.html

Besides - would you have laid off CEOs cheerleading your young girls???

I wonder if there is a dysfunctional snack culture surrounding organized kids' sports in DC as I've found there to be in Los Angeles. After every one of my kids' games, a parent hands them a donut or some other unhealthy snack. Can you say "obesity epidemic"?
02:56 AM on 05/19/2009
My kids play in AYSO region 70 (WLA ) - just volunteer to be team parent and send reminder e-mails each week stipulating healthy snacks - that's what I do and except for b-day cupcakes we always have healthy snacks during and after.

Pacesetter,
Thanks so much for the suggestion but we've tried that. Unfortunately, many parents appear uneducated as to what is actually healthy. For example, they'll bring sugary drinks loaded with artificial ingredients such as Gatorade. They think that is healthy. Or they'll bring yogurt with m and m's or some type of packaged food with all kinds of crap it it. It is so frustrating!

Why is it the same pic over & over?
& why is the caption as it is? Should the caption say something else?

Do you want it to say that Obama is a fascist socialist, anti-American who loves soccer instead of the real American sport: football?
08:12 AM on 05/19/2009
Um soccer IS football (not futbal)...you meant to say American football

"Soccer! That's a socialist sport...where is the outrage?"
============================================

I am expecting the Repub talking heads to make such a comment. Remember all the silly comments recently about President Obama (the "elitist") using dijon mustard..?

Expect "some" to stupidly say something like:
"See, we told you President Obama is a Socialist. He's supporting Soccer -- a socialist sport. Why doesn't he support a true American sport like baseball or football [BHO already has basketball covered]..! He's unpatriotic...!"
08:35 PM on 05/18/2009
Soccer is socialist?!

Our president is GORGEOUS!!!

That woman in the striped top and big hat sure loves the camera.
05:40 PM on 05/18/2009
She seems a little obsessed w/ the pres. Yet he totally ignores her. As Wanda the comedian said, Those Hoochies are always around.
10:15 PM on 05/18/2009
She's obviously Secret Service.
01:07 AM on 05/19/2009
I think you might be joking, and if so, sorry for missing the humor... but she's clearly not a component of any type of presidential protection detail...

One SS agent can be seen in photo four (from the left) on the far left side of the frame. He is also visible in frame eight, in between President Obama and the woman in the hat.
