Only 31% of Israel's adult Jewish population considers Barack Obama' administration to be pro-Israel, according to a Smith Institute poll released Sunday, on the eve of the American president's meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington.

Any person who sees them selves as "pro Israel" must agree with President Obama. It is ultimately in Israel's best interest to stop the occupation. If they continue on the same path since 1967, expand settlements, and deny the Palestinians their own country. Then they must give the Palestinian people the same freedom and civil rights that the Israeli citizens receive. This means the RIGHT TO VOTE. Of course that would completely change everything in Israel. So if a person who was "pro Israeli" would be wise to see that Obama is thinking of their best interest.

Good, Obama should be pro PEACE in the Middle East first and foremost. However we can get to that point should be Obama's total focus and not whether he picks sides or not or which side he picks.

The real story of that article is that Israelis believe, by 71% that Obama is either pro Israel (31%) or neutral (40%). But that of course is a positive spin on the numbers and God forbid we let positivity come shining through, especially when we're referring to the middle east conflict.

I think Obama is trying his hardest at bringing a sense of balance, equality and fairness into the mix but those powerful Israeli Lobby groups are also working double the overtime, preventing that from ever happening. It's clear that Obama at least understands the situation, more so than his previous predecessors.

Where does it say in the US Constitution that the POTUS has to be a groveling lapdog of the Israel. I know that's been the standard for the past 50 years but doesn't mean it has to continue.

Besides, has it really made Israel safer that prior presidents gave them a blank check no matter what attrocities they committed against the Palistinians? Personally I don't think it's worked out so good for Israel or for America.

Theres no strategic value that Israel offers that couldnt be replaced by any one of the modern aircraft carriers in service.

Israels strategic purpose is over-priced.
