Jessica Biel In Allure: My Beauty "Really Is A Problem"

Jessica Biel graces the June cover of Allure magazine, and inside she talks about boyfriend Justin Timberlake, marriage, and the cons of being so hot.

Biel, 27 says she wants a career like Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman, and that she struggles to get desirable parts:

"I'm in there with everybody else, fighting for the good parts. Yes, 'The Illusionist' has made a difference -- but a huge, massive difference, so I can pick and choose what I want? No."

She continues, "I just want an opportunity. If you don't like the audition, don't hire me! But if you don't want to even see me -- that's hurtful. And why? You know nothing about me!"

So are her good looks hurting? "It really is a problem," she says. "I have to be blunt."

As for her personal life, she isn't sure about marriage. "I have no idea if I want to get married. I have a lot to do, career-wise."

And she talks about dating Timberlake. "I mean, you love who you love! It's not like you meet somebody one day and say, 'OK, I'm not going to put up with his fame!' or 'Yes, I am going to put up with his celebrity,'" she says. "You can't choose that. It just happens to you."

What Jessica is forgetting is the "dime a dozen" factor. I'll bet nearly every half way decent looking girl in the world has at least considered the possibility that she might have what it takes to become a wealthy star.
Most discard the idea, others have the drive to pursue the dream, but most of them have little or no talent. And because "Beauty" does not necessarily mean "Talent", there's an entire industry of people in the makeup industry who are paid to make not so attractive, but talented, people look "beautiful". (There are some very prominent examples of this that I won't mention.)

So Jessica, acting, singing, dancing, etc., requires talent. You can be the most gorgeous person on earth, but if you can't deliver on the stage you're not going to be an actress. (There are also some prominent examples of this.)
You'll probably do pretty well in Hollywood since you've got your foot in the door, and as required, you are dating "well". You didn't sound too enthusiastic about your relationship, by the way.

In the end, you may, like many of these pretty Hollywood hangers on, have to forget about the camera, and marry "well" instead, if you can. (Being realistic.­)

This horse-face heifer has got to be kidding. Scarlett, Hallee, Beyonce, Catherine Zeta, Salma, Jessica Alba, ......... I could go on forever. There are so many ini Hollywood would get great parts and look 100X's better than her. She must be smoking Justin's stash.

It's not about beauty, it's about talent. Charlize Theron (Monster), Anne Bancroft (Agnes of God), and Nicole Kidman (The Hours), all stunning actresses, were able to land roles for "ugly" characters, and won oscars for them!

If she thinks it's hard to land quality roles now, she should try to see what it's like in Hollywood being a less than beautiful actress, a woman over the age of 45, or God forbid - a woman who is not super skinny...

What great parts go to Portman & Johansson? Hollywood isn't interested in women period. Does Ms. Biel wish she'd had Portman's part in Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium? (She was sweet in it, but still...)

ScarJo has been lucky enough to work with Woody Allen for the last 3 movies, one of the few writers out there in American cinema who writes good parts for women. But the movies are tiny & no one sees them.

Even sadder is Ms. Biel's only got about 13 years to show us what she can do... before she knows it she'll be 40 and then there'll be no parts at all on the big screen. A classy cable crime-solving drama will start to look better and better.

She will forever be tainted by her actions on 7th Heaven. Most people in the business don't like working with people who will do anything to break their contract. It has very little to do with beauty, imo. Natalie has shown everyone how talented she is, since her breakout role at 12(?)! She's pretty and talented.

WOW, you folks are brutal..

Ms. Biel is a very good actress, I would give her much higher points on acting than say, Jennifer Aniston, and she's much more versatile in her range of ability.

I think she was just trying to explain a frustration most, good looking, female actresses face in wanting to play parts other than the "female sidekick to the handsome male lead", and YES, I think a lot of producers check out the body and the look first and never even consider the talent.

She's just 27, and the parts she's looking for, serious meaty drama rolls, are few and very coveted I thik when she gets the chance, she will surprise a lot of people, but I won't fault her for expressing her frustration.

Maybe she meant that her looks are not as facile to work with as the other two actresses. She has a look that's too full, overripe? I only know her from The Illusionist and the rabbit toon/human movie. I liked her in The Illusionist although it wasn't a huge dramatic role.

Honey have you ever stop to think that it may not be your beauty that is keeping you from getting those roles that you want, and that maybe just maybe you are not such a good actress. Jessica I still think you are hot, but dont let it go to your head too much ok.
