Meghan McCain Talks Sex With Stephen Colbert (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 06/19/09 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 02:25 PM ET

Meghan McCain went on the "Colbert Report" Monday night to discuss whether Republicans will win the youth vote by being open-minded on social issues or by learning to use Twitter. McCain's view: the first one. John McCain's daughter described herself as a "pro-sex Republican" and a "pro-sex woman," but she refused to lick Stephen Colbert's face or talk about Sarah Palin.

Still, Colbert concluded, "When you say 'pro-sex woman' I think the Republicans' numbers go north."

The children of politicians should do us all a favor and shut up.

dear cjwebber, i'm happy to see that it's easy to gain your favor. please marry my daughter who is too abrasive and has scared away all her suitors. i want to get her out of my house. i promise she's hot.

I find her very annoying and stupid! No mater what she says or dose she will always be out of touch with the rest of the population. She is in her 20s lives at home and has no job, she has NEVER done anything for herself and has no student loans. Yet she thinks she's all down to earth, well she should get a job and move out of her parents house and live on her own and none of this mom buying her groceries or calling her daddy when she gets a 5 day notice because she's late on the rent she has to do it on her own! Then maybe people can take her searously. She's like the republican Paris Hilton

This is no different than when the GOP wooed Christians or blue collar folks; no one really gets what they asked for or expected....no one except AIPAC.

I think a socially liberal/economic conservative Republican party would be a great thing. This hijacking by the Religious right has turned many people off.

I dare any of you to read her blog and come away with anything other than a firm conviction that she's incredibly self-centered.

If Ms. McCain believes any of the Republican idealogy then why doesn't she have a job? Why does she live under Mommy's roofs, drive Mommy's cars, charge on Mommy's credit cards?

She's certainly a charismatic spokesperson, albeit for a party I don't like or support.

However me thinks the GOP hardliners will throw her under the bus if given the chance.

It's complicated, I guess

I admit she's cute. There's nothing precocious about her; she looks, acts, and thinks like your average 24-year-old woman/girl. Very likable. But don't let her social liberalism fool you. She's a poster girl for small-gov Republicanism. The unholy alliance between the hard-core religious right and the Reagan conservatives is a nice, convenient boogieman for liberals to make noise about, because most Americans are not so socially extreme, and she's a classic example of this. But the real damage of conservative ideals is in the economic, de-regulatory sphere, one were Ms. McCain, to the extent she thinks about these things, is squarely on the wrong side.

The New Deal launched a huge - and hugely successful - experiment in anti-Darwinist national policy. We had a blossoming of the middle class and an period of economic stability that was without parallel in US history. The Conservatism that McCain pledges allegiance to has already been busy dismantling that experiment and wants to keep doing more.

I wish left-sympathetic interviewers (including comedic ones like Colbert) would quit focusing exclusively on her socially liberal views and start probing her conservative ones. I think she would probably have a hard time defending them, and that's going to do more for advance liberalism overall than making a show of where she agrees with us. It might even be funnier - some of Colbert's best material has been his take-downs of right-wing whack jobs (remember the ten commandments bit?).

Meghan wants the Republican party to loosen up on the social issues, and that is fine--what she and other young people who are born into the Republican party can't seem to understand is that the economic policies are what makes the difference in the average person's life. This would be hard for someone with her background to understand.

She was born into wealth, and will never have to worry about financial matters.

Everything about her screams privilege. I'm not impressed.

Her daddy never really liked the whole religious side of the GOP so none of this is a big surprise. The apple never falls far from the tree eh?

i like meghan and how she expresses herself. a sincere and honest person..even tho she is a republican ;-) !! really tho..in the distant past the repubs were a good enough party, and it was a good thing to have 2 viable parties contending for our vote. ya know, back before their only platform was religious judgements and swiftboating their way to success. i look forward to when the repubs split--soon. there will be the meghan-type thinkers who will have a chance to re-blossom, and there will be the judge-for-jesus thinkers (for whom i suggest a shiny new name--The GLOM party--God Loves Only Me)!

I'm so far Left the Dems look like Republicans to me. But I like Meghan, and I like what she has to say. And her comments are much more sensible, constructive and meaningful that the petty, catty comments of her detractors. If the Republicans are to have any real future, she is showing what that future must be. The Dems - who act more like Republicans every day - should take heed as well.
