I Like ItI Don’t Like It

All is not well in the world of talk radio today, as an internecine spat is being brewed up by right-wing host Michael Savage, who today spent a portion of his airtime criticizing fellow conservative talker Rush Limbaugh. Oh noes! What has come between the two men? England, it seems! Well, according to Media Matters, here's what Savage said:

SAVAGE: And yet here in America, I've had some people come to my aid. They see the bigger picture. They're not like [Bill] O'Reilly; they're not like Limbaugh, who's the biggest disappointment of all. Limbaugh has turned out to be the biggest phony of all of them, all of them. Amongst all of them, he is the biggest fraud. Rush Limbaugh is a fraud. When he was accused of the drug usage, I supported him. But that man is a one-way street. It's all about him. He's in it for nobody but himself.

[LISTEN]

I guess that Limbaugh wronged Savage by not coming to his aid when Great Britain's Home Secretary Jacqui Smith barred Savage from entering the United Kingdom, along with white supremacist Stephen "Don" Black and anti-gay gadabout Fred Phelps. In Limbaugh's defense, I find it hard to believe that Savage actually wanted to go to England. I mean, wouldn't all the socialized heath care anger him? Wouldn't he be revolted at the thought of "bangers and mash," which Savage would inevitably misconstrue? Anyway, I'm guessing it was news to Limbaugh that Savage actually wanted to piss off to dear old Blighty, but there you have it.

In another month or so, these two will be fighting over what remains of the ad revenue generated by the auto industry. So, look forward to that!

Ha, I am surprised that no one else has mentioned this live radio broadcast on the subject of Savage being banned for entry into Britain. Hope I don’t violate any rules by including the link: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=103819122

Maybe I’m the only one here who heard it. Typical of his ilk, when he is pressed with questions he responds by ranting off onto another subject. But for the real picture listen to his response to a caller [into this talk radio program] at approximately 7 minutes into the broadcast. Instead of responding to the caller’s point, or even listening to what he has to say, Savage calls him someone in pajamas (infer Muslim) who must be in an institution. Then confronted with the reality that, unlike on his own radio show, Savage might have to intelligently respond to criticism Savage hangs up. So much for free speech and the rational exchange of opposing views.

I listen to Michael Savage's show and I appreciate Michael's sentiments; however, Rush Limbaugh is #1 and has been #1 for 20 years now. Michael is #5, or #10, or what-have-you, and if Michael is on Rush's radar screen at all, it's a blip.
Rush is mentioned in the popular press from time to time, not because they like him, because they do not, however, Rush is too well-known to be ignored.
Michael Savage, Rusty Humphries, and Mark Levin, all heavy-hitters on the talkers list, can be ignored if you try hard enough, and the popular press tries.
Should Rush Limbaugh mention Michael Savage on his show when there is a development in the popular press? Maybe, but that is hardly a moral dilemma. Michael imagines himself larger than he is... a quality that is arguably a necessity in talk radio.

Savage is 'right on' when he talks of immigration and deportation, and the autism scam being used by illegals to get more money and preferential positions in schools. But I can't listen to any of these people. I have to pick it up in print media. I would rather be waterboarded than listen to any of them.

When CNN asked the Weiner about his autism rant, he said it was "in jest." So much for integrity.

Yeah, unlike Pr0gressives, conservative actually think for themselves... which means there are a plethora of competing points of view.

It's about the money and privilege both men want, think they are entitled to, and think each member of their remarkably small club should defend on behalf of the other members. No philosophical difference whatsoever. Wake up.

Is this banning of a US radio personality

by another country for the content of their show

a first?

If so, I bet there will be more to come.

Though I fear it may become a mark of conservative "street cred" if it becomes a trend.

One is enough for now I think. Example made.

They picked the one not clever enough to turn this around to their advantage at home too.

I doubt it. I believe Michael Weiner was banned primarily for his pure hatred of Muslims. I don't know of another US radio personality that comes anywhere close to spewing that level of hatred.

I disagree. You must have never heard him when he talks about Christianity, Judaism and Islam all being faiths of Abraham. He has encouraged unity amongst the different faiths many times.

I think many people hear people like Savage talk about radical Islam and organizations who use Islam to manipulate the young, poor and uneducated into doing terrible acts - they somehow think he's talking about the entire Muslim world.

It IS appalling that so few have decried the absurdity of putting Savage on that list. He is not at all like Limbaugh and the other conservative commentators; give him a listen some time. He goes by the issues, not a party line.

Ahh...leave Linkins alone. I haven't grown tired of his "Oh noes." As for Savage and Limbaugh (lets be sure to include Hannity, Coulter, O'Reilly, and Palin)......lets just let them blather on. Eventually and hopefully they should blather themselves into the oblivion. Just quit listening to them!! They are just monkeys doing their well paid stunts.

It's all about Limbaugh.

You, Savage, just figured that out? Where has you been for the last 20 years? Maybe it will take a proctologist can tells us.
