Michael Savage Tees Off On Limbaugh

All is not well in the world of talk radio today, as an internecine spat is being brewed up by right-wing host Michael Savage, who today spent a portion of his airtime criticizing fellow conservative talker Rush Limbaugh. Oh noes! What has come between the two men? England, it seems! Well, according to Media Matters, here's what Savage said:

SAVAGE: And yet here in America, I've had some people come to my aid. They see the bigger picture. They're not like [Bill] O'Reilly; they're not like Limbaugh, who's the biggest disappointment of all. Limbaugh has turned out to be the biggest phony of all of them, all of them. Amongst all of them, he is the biggest fraud. Rush Limbaugh is a fraud. When he was accused of the drug usage, I supported him. But that man is a one-way street. It's all about him. He's in it for nobody but himself.

I guess that Limbaugh wronged Savage by not coming to his aid when Great Britain's Home Secretary Jacqui Smith barred Savage from entering the United Kingdom, along with white supremacist Stephen "Don" Black and anti-gay gadabout Fred Phelps. In Limbaugh's defense, I find it hard to believe that Savage actually wanted to go to England. I mean, wouldn't all the socialized heath care anger him? Wouldn't he be revolted at the thought of "bangers and mash," which Savage would inevitably misconstrue? Anyway, I'm guessing it was news to Limbaugh that Savage actually wanted to piss off to dear old Blighty, but there you have it.

In another month or so, these two will be fighting over what remains of the ad revenue generated by the auto industry. So, look forward to that!

I found out Limbaugh was a phony back in the early 90's when I compared a story in the paper to the same story he'd been talking about on his show. there was such a vast difference in the facts it was like night and day.

Anyone who believes what Limbaugh says is pretty much a fool. everything the guy says is twisted.

Although Savage is correct - Limbaugh is absolutely a phony, and he's laughing all the way to the bank at the expense of his "challenged" audience - I hesitate to consider this is anything beyond self-promotion on Savage's part, by means of controversial commentary. This method is after all, how the wing-nut media pundits make their millions, by making baseless, fact-less, inflammatory remarks lacking substance, and rational argument.

For anyone surprised that liberals, left leaning, folks listen to right wing radio I as a democrat have a explanation, as one whom listens to right wing radio daily, tune to fox & friends daily, but not as a fan, but merely like when one see's a automobile wreck on highway, one looks, wonders what happened, in morbid curiosity, not wishing a wreck had occured, but merely curiosity! Same applies to Limbaugh, Hannity, Oreilly, Ingraham, Savage to name only a few, since depending on your locality, lessor known nuts go on the rant and rave daily! If all whom listened were fans, then when GW Bush Jr called in the 5 top radio right wing icons, including Sean Hannity, for a pep talk, to get them to cheer lead for the mid term elections 2006, we all know what happened, that 30 million listerner base, did not swing the votes for them, due to no one knows how many are fans, merely morbid curiosity listeners like myself, so keep on believing the rating systems prove popularity, agreement, no one can read a listner/viewers mind, but it can tell how many might be tuning in, and imagine if many are disgusted with all the xenophobia, racism, warmongering, hypocristy, bigotry?

Fair enough. However, imagine if many of the listeners tuning in are disgusted with all the xenophobia, racism, warmongering, hypocrisy, and bigotry decided to continue to support these clowns. The ratings system is what normally drives ad revenue. If you and many others are tuning in just to see if they are as disgusting as you thought they were, you are helping them stay on the air.

I"m not trying to sound as if I'm righteous or anything like that. I would just consider that troubled logic.

There's no nielsen system connected to the radio in my van, and I would never buy any of the products I hear advertised on any of their programs. Instead, I buy their sponsors' competitor's product 100% of the time.

I, for one, listen to Rush on the way to work, and to Weiner on the way home. My feeling is that one should keep up with the spin being generated by the right and the ultra-right. It can be infuriating at times, but mostly, it's hilarious.

Savage has been busting on his competition for years, dismissing Rush as "the Golfer" and Hannity, I believe, as "the Bartender.­" As far as I know, his competition refers to him as.....not­hing. They don't acknowledge him whatsoever.

It must gnaw at his egotistical liver, don't you think?
