Despite the shrill puling whine of the far right, not a single person in Guantanamo Bay has been convicted of anything.

So in other words, Goopers are now in favor of indefinitely detaining people they can't even prove anything against. But hey, that's exactly the situation they WANT. First they come for the foreigners, then they come for the "illegal immigrants", then they come for the legal immigrants, then they come for the gays, the liberals, and the atheists... and then the conservatives finally come for YOU.

They were freed because they were not terrorists. The headline is a disgrace. The fact is, 1 in 7 detainees that were not terrorists before they were tortured, are now alleged to be terrorists. The NYT needs to take their propaganda and look for another country.

Description of what this article really means:
"the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes."

As one of the other posters said "If they weren't a T-guy before (and most likely they were not because it was never proven and never will be because they lost all the records, or so they say), they surely are now after the treatments they've received and who could blame them?"

What a misnomer. How do we know they are RETURNING and haven't been CREATED??

this info is from "an unreleased Pentagon report"? nice.

several news organizations have reported this as false, since even
appearing in a documentary on the subject put some on the list.

The US wasn't releasing anyone it was capable of proving had a prior record of terrorism, so the FBI has no idea whether the one in seven released detainees was returning to terror, or was so radicalized by their time and treatment in Guantanamo that they joined up to get revenge.

Wow! Imagine that - we converted 6 out of 7. Waterboarding works! Let's try it on Cheney!

"return" to terrorism... that's presuming all of them were terrorists, and not people caught up in the bounty hunter cash-for-suspects dragnet.

Does anyone still believe anything the Pentagon says anymore?

So only 14% of the people held in Gitmo are actually terrorists... Yet the far right is STILL wetting their beds about these cab drivers being "teh wurst of teh wurst!!!"

Proving, once again, there is nothing too small for the far right to fear.

No big deal, so many of these radical terrorists go back after release and pick up where they were when we picked them up. They are inplacable terrorists----no chance of compromise or reform. It is who they are. They are fighting for religious causes which means that no matter what we do, they will still fight. We should take a cue from Sri Lanka that gave up on the Tamil Tigers and just eliminated the genocidal maniacs. Why would these Chinese, Saudi Arabian, Palestinian, Syrian, Algerian, Pakistani, and British terrorists have been in Afghanistan anyway except that they were fighting for the taliban? Does anyone here get this?

The entire thread is comprised of people who "get this;" additionally, they took the trouble to read the whole article. You seem to have the same agenda, no matter the context.

Yeah, 14%... despite the far right wetting their beds about how these guys are "the worst of the worst".

So wrong for so long... todays GOP!
