"Family Guy" Mocks Annoying Banner Ads On Fox (VIDEO)

First Posted: 6/20/09 Updated: 5/25/11

In a segment called "Commercial Interruption" on this week's "Family Guy," the littlest Griffin, Stewie, began yelling at the on-screen graphics promoting a new episode of "24."

"Maybe finish this candy bar before you open another one," he shouted at a banner ad of Kiefer Sutherland's head.

Stewie then noted that at least it wasn't one of those lower-thirds that contained a whole cast jostling each other for attention. At that moment an ad for the fictional ad "Shovin' Buddies" appeared.

Family Guy is an exercise in pefect irreverence. Nobody is above a slight or a slam and PC doesn't exist except to be mocked.

What is really funny is that when I saw the clip, there was an actual ad for the "24" dvd in the lower right hand side...

For Family GUy, that was some seriously good satire. Not their normal fare, mind you. Still, I caught that episode on Hulu and found it hilarious.

Wish something would eat the banner and roll-over adverts that come up on the internet!

Me, too. Rather than peaking my interest, they make me want to avoid whatever program or product they're promoting.

It's funny because as I was watching this clip, a real banner ad came up on the screen that covered the banner ad Family Guy was doing a parody of lol

Not the first time FG mocks the banner at the bottom of the screen. Does anyone recall the episode where the banner was about the Simpsons and Quagmire chases Marge and ends up having ex with hair?

THE SIMPSONS also mocked it with Homer eating the JOE MILLIONAIRE ad that runs across the bottom of the screen, and then spits up the Fox logo.
