I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Jesse And Kilmeade

My word, Jesse Ventura is basically straight up walking across America from one television news studio to the next, just plain wreckin' whatever fools he finds hanging out there, like he was Caine in Kung Fu or something. Here's a clip of Ventura dispensing his version of street justice to the gaggle of naifs that host Fox And Friends. Brian Kilmeade, who I believe the kids call "the Brown one," is goaded into riling Ventura up on waterboarding, and it doesn't really go well. "If we're not going to be a country that goes by the rule of law when it's convenient or inconvenient then what do we stand for?" Ventura asked. Kilmeade whined back that things are different when "people are on fire" and "buildings are blowing up." Ventura maintains, "I wouldn't torture," properly citing the fact that it produces "baloney."

Oy. Then the Brown one says that his support for torturing the bejeezus out of people will end when "they're dead," which was not a smart thing to say to Ventura. "Really? Have you enlisted? Have you enlisted or are you just talking?... Go walk the walk, don't talk the talk."

Actually, I think we can all agree that having Brian Kilmeade attempt to defend this country in any capacity would be one of the worst ideas imaginable.

Tweedle Dee (Rebublcan) and Tweedle Dum (Democrat). Our first President, George Washington had no party affiliation- I wonder why?

I like this one: Major General Smedley Butler, United States Marines, Most decorate Marine, and Republican

"I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism." - simultaneously highest ranking and most decorated United States Marine (including two Medals of Honor) Major General Smedley Butler (and a Republican Party primary candidate for the United States Senate) 1935.[42]

Brian Kilmeade: "I'm not trying to destroy this country."

You could have fooled me.

I agree with Ventura, but I can see why they put him on,
he comes on as the angry crazy talking bully lib spewing all that stuff the viewers "know" is false, and the much smaller hosts still have the courage to speak the "truth". Quite effective really.

FOX News: Your choice for angry crazy talking bullies talking over each other!

Note to Babbling Brooks: Successfully talking over those Fox hacks WHO SPECIALIZE IN TALKING OVER ANYONE WITH DIFFERING POINTS OF VIEW is a body slam, a full count, a non-technical knock-out. You know that as well as anybody.

An interesting strategy, if in fact true; however, they still look like a bunch of little smarmy talking heads.

Kilmeade is a chickenhawk. What I really don't understand, which Jesse tried to point out to him, is that TORTURE IS ILLEGAL; end of discussion. As for BabblingBrooks stating that torture being illegal is just an opinion, well, soldiers in Vietnam were tried because they waterboarded prisoners and it was considered torture. A Texas sherriff, Scott Woodward, was convicted in 1983 of torturing prisoners using waterboarding. He got a 10 year sentence. It is an established legal precedent in the USofA that waterboarding IS torture. That it is just an opinion is Babbling's "opinion." Not fact.

Jesse has a good point to make on if it is not torture, why don't we use it on prisoners in the USA, or on Mc Veigh? Because law enforecement knows it is illegal and they would be imprisoned for doing so. Kilmeade comes back with the "defending America" excuse. If we use all the tactics the Gestapo used and make it ok to surveil the phone calls and emails of US citizens without a warrant, then what are we left defending? Do whatever to defend America is the same as "the ends justify the means" argument and we become a totalitarian state in the process.

The "rule of law" means that WE abide by the laws even if others do not. That is supposed to make us morally superior to the terrorists. Using torture makes us no different from them.

Indeed, I propose that we DO abide by the laws, especially the Constitution.

If you can find a United States law which states that waterboarding is torture and that it is illegal, I will be happy to agree with you and enter a correction to my previous statements!

Jesse's point re "why not use it on prisoners in America" is NOT a good point, it is plain foolishness or ignorance. The reason we don't is that there is a prohibition in the Constitution against such and that we have laws and customs which prevent our doing so. OUR CITIZENS on OUR SOIL in OUR CIVIL COURTS are guaranteed specific rights under the law.

The terrorists, non-uniformed combatants, are not covered under our law and they are not accorded Geneva Conventions protections either to the same degree as those accorded uniformed soldiers of recognized countries and military forces.

Do you have a reasonable reply?

I be waitin.'

I guess it all depends on what your definition of "is is:

". . .See William Safire, On Language; Waterboarding, N.Y. Times, Mar. 9, 2008, (Magazine), at 16 (“If the word torture, rooted in the Latin for ‘twist,’ means anything (and it means ‘the deliberate infliction of excruciating physical or mental pain to punish or coerce’), then waterboarding is a means of torture. The predecessor terms for its various forms are water torture, water cure and water treatment.”).

http://www.bc.edu/centers/humanrights/meta-elements/pdf/Kanstroom,_On_Waterboarding.pdf

Of course, if you're pro-torture, why don't you just come out and say it? I won't question your military experience, but because of the way you are torturing language and justice I question your sanity.

"Do you have a reasonable reply?"

Yes.

We're better than that. We have a higher standard than that.

I have enjoyed watching Jesse Ventura talk about this issue.

It is idiotic how people are continuing to say torture is bad but "Enhanced Interrogation" is OK...a rose is a rose by any other name!

Pull your head out, babbles. Waterboarding and torture are both well defined, and trying to parse the cr@p out of the English language to name it anything but torture is wrong-headed.

And it makes you appear to be a f*ckt@rd. And causes you to smell like cilantro.

We need more people like the Ventura to stand up and fight the power structure ie., Coprorate Controlled Media Propanganda Structure, Banker and Investor Class, Corporation Class, Small Group of Pampered Intellectuals who think they know it all, and who would never pass Plato's test for the ideal Philosopher-King. Ventura is a breath of fresh air!

I LOOOOVE Jesse Ventura! He is smart and articulate. I hope he make its onto the national political circuit. He would be a great asset and representative to the growing independent political party.

I think it amazing how God fearing, bible thumping, pro-life people can support issues that are so obviously contrary to their religious beliefs such as torture, war, death penalty and the denial of civil rights. Which of those issues would Jesus condone? None.

Kilmeade would impress me if he could squeeze one cogent, independent thought out of his child-like mind. All he did was spout tired GOP talking points.

The Body Ventura is spot on! We are a nation of laws and we do not stoop down to barbaric levels. What he says is true, tourture is a crime. It is in the Federal Criminal Code and Rules. Punishment for engaging in torture is severe, which is ironic, because the punishment for torture itself can be construed as torture.

We need more like Jesse Ventura. He also discussed cannabis legalization on Geraldo and said great things there as well.

I would vote for him, if he ever runs for anything again.
