I completely understand why Israel was so strict with their security for the Pope. Had anything happened to the Pope, Israel would have been held responsible for failing to provide good security.

Well the Pope just said in Africa that "condoms don't prevent against AIDS". Maybe the people are afraid that the Pope might just say "Nazis didn't kill Jews"

OK, today is "cut Israel some slack" day.

Perhaps the reason for such poor attendance at the event is that the local people are actually smart. They read about Pope Benie'c comments in Africa and the scandal in Ireland and that Father a Kid a Day former Bishop in South America and don't want to go out on a hot day to listen to some guy in a dress preach about God knows what.

As much as I enjoy piling on Israel when they act all militant and self righteous I am not going to blame them for Benedicts bad crowds.
