Specter's Supreme Court Recommendations: Four Women Who Are Not Judges

Legal Times:

Sen. Arlen Specter has given his list to President Barack Obama.

The former chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee said today that Obama had asked him to name some possible successors to Justice David Souter on the Supreme Court. And Specter (D-Pa.) said he has complied, though in speaking with reporters he would only hint at the people he suggested.

There is something to be said for nominating someone who has never been a judge: Whatever other bribes and graft they may have accepted, it is unlikely that they have as yet been bribed into perverting a court of Law.

A little inexperience in that area would be a good thing.

Why doesn't Obama just solicit Gonzo's input (trust me, he's available) while he's at it. Judging from the way Specter has made a 40 year career out of sheer, unprincipled, political opportunism, I can only assume that anyone he would suggest for an Associate Judgeship would possess the same Machiavellian streak. Thanks, but no thanks, the Court already has one Anthony Kennedy.
