House Votes To Fire Employees Hired By Disgraced Governors Ryan And Blagojevich
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- The Illinois House is trying to get rid of political cronies who were given state jobs by two disgraced former governors.
The House approved legislation Thursday that targets about 750 people hired by Republican George Ryan and Democrat Rod Blagojevich.
The legislation says they'll be fired unless new Gov. Pat Quinn specifically reviews their performance and decides they deserve to stay.
The legislation passed 116-0 and now goes to the Senate.
House Speaker Michael Madigan says he introduced the legislation because Quinn wasn't moving quickly enough to clean up state government.

The bill is SB1333.
