'JON & KATE' SNEAK PEEK: Separate Interviews, Detachment (VIDEOS)

Access Hollywood got an advance clip of the impending season of "Jon & Kate Plus 8."

Amid stories of marital strife, numerous magazine covers and reports of affairs, the once cozy couple is now filming their episodes separately, instead of side-by-side as they have every season previously.

Jon somewhat cryptically tell the cameras "Kate and I have obviously been going through some stuff. Discussing what's best for kids."

After an awkward scene from their sextuplets recent birthday party is shown, "Access" then played a clip from their own set last year, when the family was visiting and the parents snapping at each other.

They have always had an unhealthy parent-child relationship rather than adult to adult. She has over-functioned and he has over-functioned. All that does is breed resentment on everyone's parts. As a now divorced woman formerly in a marriage like that, I know a little bit about this. It's not necessarily the woman's fault in these situations, although I think w/Hate it is her choice vs. a necessity to control everything. Still, every marriage takes 2 to fail -- the fault might not quite be 50-50, but even at 60-40, the kids are the real losers.

It's interesting to see her answer to the question of romance. Her facial expression was somewhat derisive - as it was a ridiculous question then her words confirmed it. I think it's fine that she may not be the touchy-feely type but it's telling that she answered the question in terms of what she wanted and didn't mention Jon.

To be honest - a little romance, in whatever form, goes a long way. Her idea of romance may be a husband that helps around the house but I wonder if that is the same idea of romance that Jon has?

He's certainly detached. She's seems to be diving right into being busy with life. I hope they put the brakes on the celebrity and get back to each other and being a family.

I think they are exhausted. That being said, I have a feeling that s e x is not a priority for her, which would make any spouse feel abandoned.

Couples need to make time for each other. It's a challenge with one or two kids - that means you would have to work much harder at it with eight.

Except that it's completely against the reasons that people watch the show -- no one wants to see "Jon & Kate's Marital Problems" -- the kids are the real draw and, sadly, the older they get the less "marketable" they are anyway. This could well be the farewell season and they are turning it into a soap opera just to keep the advertising rates as high as possible.

Sorry - but I respectfully disagree. I come from a large family (also eight children). While structure and clear cut rules are very necessary and reassuring for all concerned, there is no need to be a drill sergeant to your own children. She doesn't need to be as hateful, rude and demanding as she is -- in fact, I would say that is detrimental to her children. Good thing the money-grubbing woman is gone 20 out of 30 days of each month, promoting the books she hasn't written.

I watched the show once and Kate was so verbally abusive to Jon that I had to turn off the t.v. This has nothing to do with being a "drill sergeant" or strict, structured and overbearing. The woman is abusive and really needs treatment. I feel very sorry for the poor children. Unless Kate gets help, Jon should leave and take them all.

It has been documented that the Gosselins appealed a decision by the state of Pennsylvannia to cut off their funding of RNs and other home health professionals; Kate felt that medical science had contributed (fertility treatments) to her predicament (birth of six multiples), therefore society should help them by continuing to pay for care even after they did not medically need it...no joke!!

What did they expect? They've exploited their children and their family for money, money, and fame?
So now you have to deal with the results, the next episodes will probably focus on their impending divorce and how the children will do in counciling, maybe Kate will buy them all matching outfits for their visits! This is about the destruction of a family and these parents both need some serious intervention. Sadly, the kids are the ones that will suffer... and of course both Kate and Jon will claim to be the victims!

Kate was quoted in her People mag article saying "I didn't sign up for this" (meaning the media scrutiny and having paparazzi following them)... and that nearly made me spit water all over my monitor! That is EXACTLY, PRECISELY, SPECIFICALLY what she signed up for when she decided to put her 8 precious children into a fishbowl to make a lot of easy money. To claim otherwise is beyond naive, it's just not even believable.

I wish they'd do what's right and shut down the cameras so they could work on their marriage, or at the least get a nice, amicable divorce without the spotlight. Please don't hate me for this, but your use of possession when none is needed is one of my biggest pet peeves. Use apostrophes when, and only when, there is posession. It's "cheats", not "cheat's", "takes", not "take's", and "parties", not "party's".

Oh honey ! I've got to agree with the poster who already commented on the problems with lack of punctuation (and apostrophes in the wrong places). I like the understated way you phrased Kate's personality type: "assertive and strong." LOL! She has a single-minded determination to get exactly what she wants from life, no matter what it takes. I can't admire it in her, because her material wealth has come at the expense of her children's privacy. Jon may have strayed, but he's been a hands on dad since day one, and is the only parent who is actually affectionate and loving toward the children. Kate is not a nice person, and I feel sorry for those little ones!

They just seem like they never should have married in the first place. And now they have 200 kids to think of. Ouch! This reminds me of a couple (who I know) that have a very similar relationship. Agreed. How sad for these children when they get older and realize their childhood experiences, triumphs, and struggles were broadcast across the globe for profit. One of these kiddos will tell their side of the story one day, and it isn't going to be pretty.
