'JON & KATE' SNEAK PEEK: Separate Interviews, Detachment (VIDEOS)

Access Hollywood got an advance clip of the impending season of "Jon & Kate Plus 8."

Amid stories of marital strife, numerous magazine covers and reports of affairs, the once cozy couple is now filming their episodes separately, instead of side-by-side as they have every season previously.

Jon somewhat cryptically tell the cameras "Kate and I have obviously been going through some stuff. Discussing what's best for kids."

After an awkward scene from their sextuplets recent birthday party is shown, "Access" then played a clip from their own set last year, when the family was visiting and the parents snapping at each other.

I can see the season now. The cliffhanger from last season was Jon worried about who he was, with the hints of marital infidelity. It was the highest rated episode of the series.

It could be that this is, indeed, about a family on the rocks due to the pressures of fame.

The cynic in me says that in actuality, this is about some shrewd business people trying to add some old-fashioned showbiz to their 'reality' tv program.

I work in entertainment and believe me, this is not some shrewd set up from TLC. The most important thing for producers, writers, etc is to know your genre. Jon & Kate is family entertainment, not a Bravo type of Real Housewives show. Very different. This show is meant to be enjoyed by children and mothers -- like a real life Brady Bunch. I'm sure the producers are scrambling --again, if it were a Bravo show, this would be great and they can honestly depict what's happening w the alleged affairs, etc. b/c children wouldn't be watching. But they're going to be limited by their genre and their young auds. So there going to have to give a little something for the adults who will be watching but still keep it PG.

agree. The marital problems between Jon and Kate are not a publicity stunt...doesn't fit intended audience or show participants.

How TLC can justify filming children in their private homes for profit, I don't understand.

Who says the set-up is from TLC? It doesn't need to be.

As I said, it's possible that this is, indeed, a very public marriage falling apart.

But it certainly smells like a set-up. Figure 8 shot back-to-back seasons for a while there, ostensibly to make sure that the kids were still cute enough to rate a show. The family earns something like $50-$75K/episode. If Kate (and Jon) were worried about that income vanishing, what would they do? Perhaps create some drama to keep people interested once the kids stop being cute anymore.

If this family is indeed falling apart, then shame on TLC and Figure 8 for continuing the show. The only way keeping this on the air is acceptable is if it IS a stunt. If it isn't, then shame on them.

Having said that, the only thing that will shock me is if the premiere is a lower-rated episode than the finale of season 4.

I am a woman, and I stopped watching the show in the beginning because of the disrespect that Kate showed Jon. I also stopped watching because Jon wouldn't man up and shut her down about it to.

It's not always the woman's fault but in this case it truly is, she is just to much and they could have reduced that pregnancy so they weren't so overwhelmed so I don't want to hear omg they have so many kids that she needs to be this way.

From the first episode of the show I wondered if they really loved each other and now I think I have my answer.

Looks like the latest "cosmetic procedure" for these 2 was the "Americanization" of Jon's eyes. They look WAY different now - he's a real "round eye" and he never was before. Weird.

Both Jon and Kate are very, very poorly adjusted people -- they have a parent-child relationship, not an adult-adult relationship. I used to watch the show for the adorable kids, but the older they get the less adorable they are (happens with all kids, but is worse in this case because of the horrible homelife they have in front of the cameras with an emotionally checked-out dad and a control freak, obsessive-­compulsive media who-re of a mom. The meal tickets - I mean, the CHILDREN - are the ones with the really raw deal in all this.

i am staunchly pro-choice, actually i am all about not getting knocked up in the first place, ie pro birth control...i am so against invitro fertilization, because this is the circus it creates...if you can't get pregnant, there is probably a reason that you shouldn't be having children...these people and octomom shoul;d not be parenting...

I cannot disagree with you more. Although placing a half dozen embryos in a uterus is ridiculously irresponsible, I've known amazing people who couldn't get pregnant on their own, who after fertility treatments (rationally coordinated) or adoption were loving devoted parents who put their kids first... Not attention hounding beasts like these two. Your comment is as empty and meaningless as those who have kids slamming the child-free for being heartless, it's irresponsible and adds nothing to ANY discussion.

Wow. I find your comment incredibly offensive and ignorant. My husband and I waited until we were in a loving, stable, financially secure relationship to have children, only to find that at the ripe old age of 35 I was too old to conceive a child naturally. You have no idea how heartbreaking that is for a couple.

People like octo-mom and Jon & Kate are horrible examples of people who turn to fertility treatments. The very fact that they endangered the lives of those children by carrying so many to term tells us that. Most people who turn to infertility treatments understand that there is a risk of too many embryos implanting and that they may have to select down in order to give those embryos the best possible chance at a healthy, happy life.

Don't slam everyone just because a few people made hideous choices and the media and public have chosen to reward them for it.

This is a most insensitive comment. There are many of us out here who can't get pregnant naturally and would be or have been wonderful mothers because of scientific methods that allow pregnancy or adoption. There are plenty examples of people out there who have no trouble getting pregnant who abuse or neglect their own naturally conceived children.

I don't think it will happen. I have seen the show once and only once and I didn't like her. She was mean toward her husband. She belittled him. Yelling at him to this or that. She was never happy. I think if their are smart they should divorce and put the children first. I would worry that she has full charge of the children. She doesn't seem mild mannered. But putting the children first and never saying anything bad about each other in front of the kids would really go a long way for the kids.
